There was talk of a second check point for the Counting Coup, but no mention of it on the registration. Is it still being debated? Approximately how much time will be allowed?

And, did anyone try training for the VQ at this event: http://www.everestchallenge.com/

Personally, I went hiking while John did it....then again, I'm not even thinking of doing the VQ.

You make the trip back and do the ride. Don't let moving away be an excuse no to do it

Not really. There is usually a waitng list for riders if after it sells out for registered riders who may have to withdraw.

There will be a checkpoint for the Counting Coup somewhere around 4 Corners or the Peak. Not sure of the alotted time yet. Still being decided. But last year we had a lady out there who had not reached the peak by 2:30 pm.

I will let you all know as soon as I know what the cut-off time is.

I remember that lady, we had almost packed up from the top of 4 corners when someone spotted her. Did she end up turning around? She was pretty adamant about continuing when we saw her.

Of course, we were out there longer than planned as well...

if your thinking about the VQ you are going to have to put the SS away for awhile and take the geared bike out for longer rides

I just signed up for VQ. I did CC in March (my first mtb race ever) and ended up 6th overall 5:48, so I figure I need to step it up to the VQ next March. Good luck to all!

Default nag, nag, OK I'll post something

I've signed up for the VQ again, SS again. It'd be nice to take an hour off my time, astounding to take two hours off.

I almost joined the Blackstar ride today (10/1) but stuff interfered.

I signed up for CC this morning. Originally was thinking VQ but all this talk of pain and suffering had me rethink it. I hope I don't finish CC feeling like I still have something in the tank and I pussed out.
