Hey EC, what should we expect out of the DH course? loose and rocky? fast and flowy? drops? jumps? rediculously sweet berms? just curious so I can come prepared (I won't make it out for DH practice saturday)

I'll also second the request for a sweet DS course once you do get some rain.

Only if you have a piece of hay in your mouth and you're wearin' overalls. Oh, and bluegrass music doesn't hurt either!

I'd actually love to help out with some trail maintanence/building if need be.

Too bad I can't get Sundays off- this would be a great event to race.

Just curious, how long have most of the riders actually ridden if there planning on racing? Are there any first time racers? Where should someone go if they want to start DH racing? Thanks

Just find a race that you can fit into your schedule and hit it. There are always first timers and almost everyone, except for a small handful, will be first timers at this course.

Show up and ride the practice day ... if you are feeling it come back and race... I bet there will be a large STR contingent out there so you will not be alone by anymeans just make sure we know who need more Cowbell...

This will be my first race and will have little time on a DH bike. This will actually more then likely be my 5th time on any DH bike and 4rd on mine.

This will only be my 2nd serious DH race. I've done others before, but they were more just trying to figure what I liked in the sport, and I didn't take them too seriously. Now I'm trying more to win (but I'm not disappointed if I don't).

Don't worry though, we all have to start somewhere, so do what you can and remember to have fun.

Hey mark, you ever fix that crazy clunking coming from your rear shock?

it's nice to hear this is finally becoming a reality. i'm so used to seeing less and less places to ride; it's quite a shock when i hear there will be a new place to ride!

...email sent about trail-work volunteering.

i took a bunch of pics of one of the DH trails out there a while back. you can view the thread below...however, i am not 100% on whether or not this trail will be used during the race. as far as i know this is the only thing built other then the jump track out there.

HAHA... like always, it's hard to take pictures when you're too busy riding! i got a moto desert trip already setup that weekend, but i'll try to make it out to another event and snap off a few of the BFlo sending it!

luke, those pics make it look like there's some pretty good trails out there for sure.

sure am glad i'm already used to socal soot... could you imagine coming here from, say, the northwest, and trying to ride that stuff?

Yes there are sweet designated camping spots where you can group together to save $$ and there are fire rings at every site. (Vail Lake will handle all camping reservations, but we get a 20% discount)There are also bathrooms with showers its really a great venue and I suggest reserving camping and pre-registering for the race in advance to save some cash and help make sure we have a smooth event and not have to register 100's of riders the day of the race.

Thanks so much for all the excitement and support we cant do it without you so thanks again.

my family and i have been camping there for quite a few years now but we stopped this year because the prices were raised to over $100 a night. That is of last time we checked.

i have looked at the website, but have not called them recently.

so does anyone know of the current price for camping? and how do we get this 20% off? or is it just for the elite?

im debating weather to camp or drive out each day.

Hello its off season there right now so tent camping is $45 and RV spots are $55 plus you can double up (2 tents per spot is their rule) and split the cost with someone and you also get 20% off that we brokered for the racers so its actually $36 for tents and $44 for RV's a night after the discount.

Split that with a friend and pay less with the cost of gas these days thats a bargain plus you get to hang out on Saturday night when we have a BBQ and Hillbilly games along with live music at the village and then wake up early and get some practice in.

I'm happy to answer any questions anyone has so fire away if I don't have an answer for you I will find out for sure.
