When you are out there racing in the 100 degree weather look up and to the East. That will be me, either on the chair lift or smiling as I cruse down Grandview/Pineknot/"89"/Speedo/Skyline/Bristlecone...get a cold beverage and do it again and again.

Man I get lazy in the Summer...I hate the heat.

Just ribbing ya Steve...good luck and if I am in the area I will come by and support ya.

Thanks for the reminder about the weather Dean, now that's one more thing I have to worry about.

What's this course like? The ground composition? I was thinking it might be fun to come in dead last again. It was real impressive last time. (Actually, I beat one guy who DNF, so there.)

Mostly decomposed granite and boulders....can get sandy. My 2.55 WTB Weirwolf LT's like that stuff...but they are hard to find. They are the newer team freeride WTB's. Now for a race tire they are too heavy 790grams.

Default Heat is....

rarely a factor at Rim Nordic. Even on the hottest days the temps are only in the midi-eighties(just like Big Bear, maybe even a few degrees cooler). Occaisionally you will get a T-storm, but that makes the racing that much more fun. The course is one of the best XC courses around, much better than anything you will race in Big Bear. They put on a very laid back, grass roots series and give reall interesting little trophies if you podium.

I am not trying to bash on BB, I have a home there, but the facts are the facts.

Weclome aboard Max, I was screwing around with Steve about the weather conditions. I did get him.

If you're not used to it, it's not easy - especially on a course like this with A LOT of dust. Just make sure you head out there with the thought of having some fun in mind and you should be OK. The course is very fun BTW, with about 90% of the climbing on the front end and some really fun DH on the back.

Hey Gurp, come on out! I am about 90% sure I'll be racing the first one.

Can't make the first one, I'm riding the Plunge that day. But, maybe July 30th. Anyway, I still don't think I'm in racing shape yet. 'Course, I *do* have some pretty f&cking fast tires now. And, my new pedals give me at least a 1/10th of a mph advantage. I can tell.

Add a couple of stickers to your bike and helmet, shoot, you'd be unstoppable!

Since Arrkelly lives near sea level, I would imagine that the Rim Nordic race course may seem like high altitude to him.

Snow Valley at Highway 18 about 6,700 foot. Highest nearby peak, Keller Peak (Fire Lookout) 7,850ft.
