I know some people who swear by them, especially when it comes to Turkish Getups. In my opinion, they're only as effective as the training program.

BTW, Iron Woody sells a "Kettle Grip" that converts your existing weight plates into a Kettlebell.

How do Kettle Grips work?

Kettle Grips™ lock down with hex bolts to a solid steel shaft using an Allen wrench(s). The shaft was purposefully sized to utilize your standard, one-inch hole weight plates. The grip’s handle is constructed of a high-grade, durable ABS plastic. Its 1-3/8 inch diameter is not too large or small for most people’s grip.

Warning: There are two exercises that should not be attempted with our Kettle Grips™.
  1. Kettle Gripsshould not be thrown as you might a standard kettlebell.
  2. Kettle Gripsshould not be used to do push-up type exercises. The attached weights will act like a wheel, and they will roll out from under you.

My daughter is a certified kettlebell instructor in Rancho Santa Margarita, if you would like to call and talk to her I am sure she can give you some help. Let me know and I will give you her number to contact her.

I highly recommend you look into Cross Fit Training. They work with Kettlebells as well as every other type of training you could think of. http://www.crossfit.com/. They post "daily workouts". Check em out.
