Hey everyone.

I was wondering if anyone out there that is experieced with setting up a training schedule could help me out a little.

I am just looking for some information about how long to base train, etc.

Basically I want to do as well as I can do for this years Vision Quest. I did last years Traverse and finished. (At the time I just got into riding again and recently quit smoking) I think I can do much better this year as I have been riding more and been more healthy. I want step it up though with training and just do the best I can do.

Please PM me or let me know I and I will PM you.

Thanks!

Here's a 17 week plan that Merida has on their site.

I got this link from Luke. Has a bunch of race/type specific training plans for just about any type of race.

Otherwise, look into the Mountain Bikers Training Bible. It's more of a season training plan rather than one race training, but it has a bunch of good info.

I'd suggest 12-16 weeks of "Base" work. Probably start 6 months out to build up to a genuine "Peak".

Build your long ride so that you reach about 80% of the time you think it will take you to finish.

Lots of long climbs in the saddle. Weights to help build sport-specific strength.

Definitely read The MTB'ers Training Bible; PM or e-mail me if you need help wading through all the sceintific mumbo-jumbo.
