Default 24hr Hurkey Creek: 3 8hr solos in need of a camp site. Will help and/or be volunteers

We found out that as an 8hr solo we cannot get a camp site. We broke up our 4 man 24hr team to do solos and that is our one downfall. Once our race is done we can help through the night with food, keeping warm and waking up people to do laps on time and updates. I have met some people on here so they can vouch for me.

We want to be there on Friday night and Saturday night. Heck, we can even be volunteers if need be.

We will have 2 tents. One with me and my dad and another for a buddy Stan and his wife. We are all very nice people with hands to help.

I know it can be hard to find a volunteer so you have 4 here if need be.

Please and Thanks guys.

Default if there are sites, you can get one the day of

as long as the campground is not full, you can get a site the day of the race. Talk to Stu or one of the organizers.

2 races ago 8 hr people pitched tents everywhere, apparently the rangers said no more of that.

The spring race we had 3 8 hour people, went up, brought the tent, buddy talked to stu and we had a site.

Fall race may be more crowded, spring race seemed fairly sparse.

We emailed them and asked about camping and they said they are pretty sure they will be full and if there are spots open then we can get a site, after all the 24hr people have sites.

This is very bad news. I was planning on going up with my father and 2 young boys. If we can't get a site I don't know if I should even do the race. This was completely NOT a problem in the Spring so I didn't think it would sell out this quickly.

The spring is by far their smaller race...the amount of racers for fall is double at least...

The fall camping thing has turned into a a real bummer!

The 8hr racers are not the only ones getting hosed - the 24 solo's don't get a site either..I'm sure they'll get it worked out for next year (hopefully)

Good Luck getting sites guys!

Looking on the bright site - If you don't get to camp - the grass area for your pits is close to the venue start/finish and zero dirt.

Well I just registered. Worst case I have a long drive in the morning and evening with a long ride in the middle.
There are worse ways to spend a Saturday.

Do you have any extra space? I was thinking about going up and just hanging out and yelling at racers as they go by.
