not a pro, but working diligently up the ranks. love maxxis' stuff (esp. xmarks)!! will prob send in a rez later this year.
anyway, fwiw, 15-18 hours/week. prob 50/50 in time not including the trainer. mileage highly depends on the elevation change but i would guess anywhere from 60-100 mtb/weekly and 80/120 road...again not including the trainer.

Basically it becomes a part time job.
I typically do 8-10 hours a week and would think that I would have to double that to ride at a level the pros ride at. Oh yeah and the 8-10 hours only includes swimming, biking (road and mountain), and running. It doesn't include all the time I spend doing my yoga or in the gym hitting the weights. |

Time to race!!!

Ya your work is paying as well! You are putting in the time and it is showing! Congrats on your 1st win in your 1st expert XC race!
![]() I do have the pleasure to race pro and its a great time. As far as training goes I put in as much as 25-30 hours depending on what I need to work on. I do not run miles any more as hours is more accurate. I usually do about 2-3 days on the road per week and the rest on my mtn bike. Once you get a good base in then you can actually cut back the hours and work on the intensity and such. I actually have been riding less hours than ever before but I am still getting faster. Its more a thing of letting you body recover properly then just riding a lot. Hope this helps a little. Also I hired a coach this year a that is a HUGE help. He takes a lot of pressure off my shoulders and allows me to just focus on riding! ![]() |
