There are at least 5 of us here who signed up for this race, it will be ALL OF OUR FIRST race we've ever entered. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to make it out to Friday's preride, so I'll be paying extra attention to the course on my first lap on race day.

The pics do have a habit of flattening out the trail, but everything is ridable for all abilities.

Come out for the preride. There are a few sections that you will benefit from if you have an opportunity to ride them prior to the race. These are small things that catch you off guard if you don't know about them. A few of the turns are kinda tricky, so riding them ahead of time and finding the right line is definately a plus.

Friday 5-7pm.

Thanks, I will try to make it to the preride. Do I just follow the directions to the trail head on geoladders? I am also bringing my brother-in law from Ventura County. We are both begineers at mountain biking (you can tell from my shins after Sunday's ride) and this will be both of our first race.

Personally Jose, I think you could do the Intermediate. It is a lot of climbing, but really not much worse than that last El moro ride we did and you were cruising along just fine. I switched to Intermediate...I figure as long as I'm not last I'm doing alright!

MTNBIKEJ:

I attended the first open practice ride. Access was regulated and parking was limited. How will this be handled race day?

Safe answer: Expect plenty of climbing but not incredibly technical terrain (though there are some loose, steep spots), so I'm not going to too low or too high on the pressure...

I was wondering about this too. I can't really park in any ole' spot as I'm not 4x4 and have a semi-low car.

The gate might be open. If not, someone will be posted there to let people in. Parking will be a little more controlled than at the prerides(more of a free for all).

Good luck at the race.

Towards the top of the pavement near the start finish line is a large gravel parking lot. YOu should have no troubles parking there. We have had not trouble with this at any of the other events that we have had out there.

Thanks

There are not a lot of places where pinch flats are an issue. THere are also not really any places where low pressure is needed for extra traction. Find something in the middle that you are comfortable with.
