Nope - don't mind.

Hmm..what about the free kegs of beer they'll have available after the race. That might mess with recovery plans.

keep working....but zone 1 training is effective. good training is a balancing act between volume, intensity, and recovery. too much of one, and the others will suffer.
Word. For long rides and runs where I'm working on my endurance base, I stay almost exclusively in zone 2. It gets very challenging to stay in that gray zone: my body wants to go either faster or slower than that.

HRM's are a good tool, but your HR will lag behind your effort slightly. Just keep that in mind when training.

If you want, I'm looking for a few "Guinea Pigs" to try my hand at coaching. 92-ser is my first victim,...er athlete. No fee since I'm short on coaching experience.

Check out the link Luke put up, Joe Friel is amazing; I had the pleasure of attending one of his "talks" on endurance training. Stupifying how much he knows about endurance training.

What exactly does this entail? Seems like with quite a few of us trying to push our own envelopes you'd get some takers!

You set cycling goals and I give you daily workouts based on your goals and current fitness levels. Simple, no?

That's the best advice in that post and I agree completely! Allison, with all due respect, you're going to wear out your keyboard with all the other minutia

the more you enjoy your ride, the more you will "train". Pick rides that will naturally duplicate hill and speed intervals and free your mind of HR BS. Your conditioning will improve while you'r having masochistic fun.

an adage that might be apropos here is "keep it simple, stupid"

"Yeah, Zippy... I did that running work out you gave me, sure..."

I was thinking of "volunteering" until I read that there was running involved. That's what ruins triathalons....

Fiesta Island is where I did it. The place is perfect for the test. Low traffic loop, one way, flat. It's a little far from you though.

I used the lap function on my HRM. Ride for ten minutes, then hit lap.

I got all my information from Joe Friel's book: "The Cyclist's Training Bible."
