Default 12 Hours - Whatcha eating?

All right, folks, we are just about 1.5 weeks away from the big day.

What is everyone bringing to eat? What trail food, what drinks, what real food/drinks?

Anyone have any photos of their "nutrition" for the day?? I'll try to remember to take a pic of mine next week while I am getting it all together.

Just curious what everyone else was doing.

I briefly considered going the Team Dicky route and just getting cookies and cheap beer, but I don't think I'd last more than 2-3 laps if I did that. He must be genetically inclined

i'm going 90% synthetic food stuffs for the race. we'll pack some fresh sandwiches and light pasta salads for between intervals. i'm on a 3 person, so i'll have a bit of time to get a small bit of solid food down. plenty of carb/protein drinks during the day, but probably race with just nuun and heed in my bottles.
in between, i'll be using perpetuem or a new product called vitargo (way fast carb absorption). after thats it the usual blocs and hammer gels. nothing exciting there. i dont have a problem with cramping, so no pickle juice.

we'll have some fresh baked tasty treats for afterwords.
right now i think we'll stay and camp... everyone else spending the night?

We might hang out a bit, but I know I'll be tired. I may buy a Guinness 6 pack or something and have one after my last lap with a Recoverite chaser, but after awards I'll probably wanna go home.

I may have just enough energy left to shower before passing out

Well, I haven't done a solo in a few years. But when I did a solo 12 hour back in Wisconsin, I tried to have a good variety of quick and substantial food at the pits. And a variety of on the bike food not just one type of gel or clif bars....

If mid race your stomach decides its had enough of stawberry clif bloks you need a back up plan like margerhita clif blocks.... you get the idea.

the same thing goes for pit food. You might think you'll want Peanut butter and banana sandwhiches, but durring the race you might decide you actually want a avacado sandwhich...

So pretty much bring a little of everything you think you might or could want.

If you don't eat during the race I'm sure it will be good after race food.

Thanks! Exactly the info I was looking for... just not sure how much I should buy/pack.

Seems like I might want to scarf on some oatmeal raisin cookies halfway through the day, but if I don't then I guess I'll have to share them with everyone else

Justin still may be racing. That'll make it very interesting. Hope we can pit next to one of you guys so someone can watch our stuff while we are out racing!

I was figuring I'd just mix up new bottles, but I may have to buy a bunch and have them pre-made for the day.

Usually that's what Neil does, he #'s them and color codes them, just tells us what color he wants when he comes in and goes out. Then we just worry about what fuel he needs and how his bike is running.
