Default Looking for a 4th for 12 Hours of Temecula

My 4 man team is looking for a 4th (man or woman) to ride with us in the 12 Hours of Temecula on June 14th. We'd like to get someone with a little experience either in racing or the course. Anyone interested?

I have been riding the course with Justin and Allison so I am familiar with the layout - just not sure what speed you are looking for - maybe I can get a time today... I would be interested though....I am still just getting back into shape and have not raced anything since 2004...

Well, we aren't lightning fast like some of the teams out there but we tend to be consistant. The fastest non pro riders seem to get into the low 50's. We ride at right around :58 to 1:02 or so and that's what we are looking for (or faster). Do you have an times from past rides? I seem to rememeber it being about 23 minutes or so to top of Damn Climb. That's probably about right for a 1 hour lap. About 8 minutes to get out to the climb then 15 up it.

Let me know what you think.

When considering lap times - don't forget to add roughly 2-5 mins for the new start/finish area, moving it to the pools WILL add some time to the laps everyone is used to running

Good point. So I guess with the new start point it will be kind of like the parade lap but for every lap. That adds about 3 minutes.

We haven't done the "new" course yet. I was doing the old one in 1:02 at absolute race pace.

So you guys are running pretty quick times IMO.

My fastest was :58 last year and I know I can probably climb Damn climb about 1 minute faster now but with the new techy stuff it slows me down a bit.

damn it Jim! I just checked with the social event coordinator (the wife) and she is doing the mud run that day, so I have moral support and beer drinking duties!
(it could be worse, huh?)

I was already getting pumped for this too, aaaargh, I guess I'll just go slink back to my corner now.......

Good luck out there and be sure to post a full race report!

Well we just finished up out there and my time based on the latest course we rode today will be somewhere around the 1:15 mark - I might shave a couple minutes off but not much - good luck!!! Great ride today just before the rain!!!

Default Damn...

I can't do consistant 50's on my single ....maybe lap one or two.....but then i am in the 1:05+.

One of these days I will get a gearie and get some training on it to see how fast I can be

I have always done it solo...best race was 11 laps....worst was 8 for the 12hr

I'm pretty sure I could hit those times...but consistency is probably not my strong suit. lol!

Best of luck finding another dude or dude-ette!

How does that course compare to something like the Fullerton Loop in time and distance?

Can't find it on Geoladders now (I thought 2007 was posted?), but it's ~10 miles give or take and ~950 to ~1200 elevation gain, ballpark.

Uhm, it's a lot more physically demanding than the Fully loop IMO.

That Dam climb is about 3 miles and 600-700ft of climbing (I forget off the top of my head). From the turn to the top it takes me 10-15 minutes I think? Ride time.

In addition to a few steep sections there's also a rocky section that (for me at least) is tricky to clean.

The rest of the course just has mostly steep rollers.

Fullerton Loop doesn't have any extended climbs as far as I remember.

It's not like climbing up ITT or Harding, but Dam climb is tough and long.

We'd just like to find someone that is around those times. Last June I road my first lap around 1:00, then it got really hot and I hit 1:05 on my second but my last lap a cool breeze came in and I did 1:02. I would expect people to drop off a couple minutes a lap is all.

Are you interested in riding with us?

The elevation is usually about 1250 minumum and up to about 1500 feet per lap. Its a good work out.

I think its more like 800 feet or maybe a little more and about 1.3 miles long. 10 minutes would be very fast. I think I was about 15 minutes up it last year but I'm hoping to get into the 13's this year if my improvements on my times up Mathis in Aliso are any indication (got it down to 12:20

The course, according to Jason, is 11.1 miles long. The route we did yesterday was 10.3 miles and 1600ft of climbing. Climbing should be similar, but possibly an extra 50ft or so?

Yep, this is going to be a longer course this time and a decent bit of climbing. So much for our plan to get 12 laps this time.
