Default High-altitude training, May 10-11, Big Bear Lake...

Hey guys,

I share a cabin with some family friends up near Big Bear Lake. I was planning on doing some training at altitude.

The cabin is in Green Valley Lake, at 7200 ft. I have a few trails in mind, but I'm flexible. Intensity level will be mild/moderate (NOT a race pace)...I am basically going to use this weekend to gauge my fitness level to determine what events I should/should not enter in the next few months.

The cabin has a queen futon downstairs, a twin daybed upstairs, and room on the floor for a couple sleeping bags (it's a ~1950 A-frame, very small).

If anyone is interested in going, let me know.

***Thinking of splitting the day into 2 rides...one on the South and one on the North side of BBL.

#1 (south side) is looking like the 2N08 up to Grandview Point...then across the 2N10 west to Stonehenge singletrack, and across Mill Creek Rd. to Boulder Creek singletrack then back into town.

#2 (north side), still working it out.

Sounds like fun! We'll be riding at a higher altitude that weekend, but not quite THAT high

Wish we could, but that's Mother's Day weekend and we already have plans

Besides, it's so much more fun to try to race at altitude, wheeze out the pollution from below, gasp for oxygen, puke, then pass out

Ok...updates...

1) In the interest of Mother's Day, I am thinking of heading up there Friday afternoon/evening, riding all day Saturday, and coming home on Saturday night.

2) Ride format may be a pseudo-epic, at a moderate pace. Aiming for 25-35 miles, give or take. Want to get some miles in for the upcoming events (12 hour, Traverse, etc).

3) Cabin has a king bed upstairs (MINE, unless a couple is going, then you can have it...lol!), twin day bed, and a queen futon downstairs. Room for bags or an airbed on the floor downstairs as well.

If you decide you want to go, PM me and let me know.

I think Danny (bighit) is on the fence, that's about it right now so there's plenty of room.
