What I’m looking for is this:
I want to ride my bike as hard as I can with other people who want the same. I want to get my ass kicked by some fast riders so I can see what they do, and maybe even kick some ass myself. I want to have a drink afterwards and talk about how excruciatingly painful that was and then say, "see you all next week!"

If something like this doesn't exist in orange county then I think it should. I wouldnt have a problem starting it either. I just wonder if there is enough interest.

Any thoughts?
On the other hand rivals can learn your strengths amd weaknesses.

I'm guessing there are plenty of guy's who do rides like this all the time. Just find some racer boi's and start riding with them (if they let you keep up ).

I'm in the IE, so I can't help you at all. But, I will be spending my Thursday evening attempting to keep up with Luke and Justin

Find a common ride you do, and time yourself. I used to do that at Aliso by myself all the time.

Defintely hit up the road bike, if you wana become a faster racer!

Yeah, we do that at Aliso tuesday and thursday nights. I post about the ride all the time but no one ever shows up so me and a friend turn the gps on and try and beat our last ride time. If you want to join in we ride tuesday and thursdays after work.

If there's no wind I don't think it matters at all, but with the insane winds we had up there, it mattered a LOT.
If you're moving, there's wind

There isn't a freaking 20mph steady head wind on a fire road climb when you are just pedaling around.

If Pickettt is Expert racer Tim Pickett, don't ride with him, He'll SMOKE you.

I race in his category...and come in DFL!

Eric Palmer. Expert 30-34; I raced the Incycle Race at Bonelli in November and got dropped in the first 10 minutes. My first Expert race, though. I'll probably see you on the start line at Rim Nordic.

Why don't you just post a ride with a "FAST PACE" warning and see what happens?

come out thursday nights at vail lake....i usually get there early to get my work done BEFORE my hosted group ride. even still i have trouble getting people to show up because they get frustrated with my moderate pace.

we can do hill repeats up the damn climb until we drop.....fun, fun, fun....lol!

ps....always down for the post ride brew!

I ride with some Geoladders dudes on Thursday nights. Zippy, you know the guys. We post the ride every week and most of the time we ride with the same group of about 5 or so guys. It's usually a Sport paced 20 mile ride around the Chiquita & Tijeras Creek area.

Luke - I'm not afraid of you. I'm smart enough to already know ahead of time I can't keep up

I did scare away the chick from work, though. She's riding with 2 other girls instead. Try not to leave flames as you go by!

One of the most exciting things I have done is race in a pack of about 30 riders at 35-40 mph. As exciting as any mountain bike ride I have ever done!
