Default 12 hour Temecula #2 Course Posted

http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=207372

Click above...

I haven't cross referenced it yet but it looks to me:

1. up damn climb to summit
2. jason's new singletrack sections and down the switchbacks
3. a right after the ambulance fireroad connection to skip most of the damn descent....this is the new marlin singeltrack that robert has been using in racers and chasers.
4. back on the fireroad to the ambulance climb up towards tunnel.
5. up the steep @ss climb to start down calf burner.
6. left over to the new switchbacks that robert made that will descend to the valley floor (called bridges).
7. out to the fireroad and around to steep marine corp climb.
8. right down the super fast fireroad to the campground and finish.

This should be a fun course....but wha....no tunnel!! Bummer! It is going to make for some tough passing on the descents.

Anyway, I reeeeallly hope it isn't 100 degrees out there on race day.

My guess on the mileage is 9.26 miles

I'm guessing elevation gain will be around 1250-1350ft per lap.

sounds about right to me...the climbs will be much easier then past courses though. all wide open fireroad climbs not really technical at all. the descents will be tight singletrack and will probably be pretty loose by then....you will be workin' going down too!

Luke if you get out there early on Thurs and we make it maybe we can do a pre-ride of the course?

I'm still thinking about finding a partner for the 12 hour duo.

Are you asking someone to step up? or just thinking out loud?

Were there any singletrack climbs before? Did #1 this year and I don't remember any and I only did #1 last year so I don't know what the course was for #2 & #3.

The 2007 November race (#3) ran clockwise and had some single track climbs in it. I think that's the past course Luke is referring to since he and I were on the same 3-person team.

Is there anybody familiar with this course who could maybe lead a ride sometime in the near future?

Luke just did last Thursday The three of us had a great ride.

If I had had time I would've tried to make an official route, but I don't think I would've been able to.

Not sure if he's gonna be doing a ride this Thurs or not, and both of us are not in Temecula this coming weekend.

I'll be out there cruising solo and trying to avoid heat exhaustion. Say hi as you go by!

Actually, only Luke and I finished out the loop.

You may be able to follow the directions with the printed map and by looking at his pics from the RR. He took photos of all of the intersections.

L8 Apeks, I can show you around the course when you want to drive to Temecula. Just let me know and we can work the details out.

I will be racing on the 10th with Racers and Chasers. If you want to show up at about 11 or so, we can do it after the race.

I never get bored riding Vail Lake. Home track considering I live in Temecula.
