I've got Eagle Road right at 14 miles.

If you're looking for a training ride, some people are riding Up Blackstar/MD to Eagle, down Eagle then up Skyline and back down Blackstar.

You could also to Blackstar-Sierra Peak...it's the other way on MD...but is 21.5 miles

Going to Eagle would be more 'training'. I'll PM you if I end up doing a training ride on Sunday. Would prob be up for it the next weekend....I hope! If you ride..report back on trail conditions for the rest of us. Thnx!

Count me in! C'mon xhuskr...you know you want to cancel whatever plans you have & join the fun. Like your sig line quote from Gene says, "Sign up for the pain!"

I will see you @ 8am on Sunday...by the christmas tree farm, I suppose? I'll be in a gold Explorer Sport Trac with a gold Kona.

Of course, I may go nuts and bring the SS 29er. Either way, 30 miles of MD goodness sounds wonderful to me.

Edit: Mods...any chance we get this turned into a true ride with the option to sign up?

Do you have a date & time for that ride?

It's just a route people have been doing for training. Check geoladders. Sometimes they post it as a group ride.

Now that sounds like real training. 37.6 miles & 6k of elevation. I'd be more than happy to take a run at that with someone who knows the route better than I do.

It would be a good 5 miles longer and 1000 feet more than I've ever done in a day. Still, sounds like all kinds of painful fun!

You might want to try this one first so you have an idea of what the last hill is like.

http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=131

Really easy routefinding. I've done it from the Blackstar side a few times.

This looks good. Do you want to try this one on Sunday Kona?

I'm up for either. Given that the last GeoLadders route can be ridden backwards, we can simply start @ Blackstar then decide when we reach Beeks.

We'll make it a game-time decision.

Start time 0800 on Sunday the 20th.
Hi I want to do this too. Where will we be starting from?

H.Jim/Trabuco would be a good training ride. You get to ride the last section of the race, practice your descending on the Trabuco Trail, and get a taste of granny gear climbing up "The Wall"...

That is a great ride, I did that last December.
I would like to try something new, and get to know the Santa Anas a little better. Looks like we'll go up Blackstar and decide there.

I put this ride together for Bergsteiger's training plan. Should be good training for the Traverse.
