Default Water intake.. how much is enough?

Hey guys- I feel like I'm drinking an @ss load of water, but I'm still p'ing yellow. So, on non-riding days, I'm drinking 64 to 75 oz's of water per day. I'm running 3 days a week, lifting 3 days a week and riding 1 day a week*. Just curious how much water other peeps are drinking .

-Love from the right coast

*the trails are mostly too wet to ride right now. Imagine that?

The old 8 glasses of water debate...

Basically, from what I know, the 8 glasses of water figure isn't really true. I think I saw some info from Hammer Nutrition about proper hydration but I'll have to find it...

I drink 2 Nalgene bottles during the work day, a double cup of green tea in the morning and then another couple of glasses at/after dinner.

If you are drinking a lot of coffee/caffeine or ingesting a lot of salt, this could be negatively impacting your efforts.

Thanks for allowing me to share in the discussion of your urine...it was uplifting

That's exactly what I do.. 1 cup o' coffee, 2x Nalgenes at work, a couple glasses of water at night. Not a lot of salt. But I still dehydrated. WTF!?

Like said above, coffee will dehydrate you, also are you taking any vitamins, that could also affect your urine color,

one thing i learned is if your pee is yellow drink more water. lol.

drink more and see how it goes.

do you sweat profusely while running/working out?

also, don't forget that the air is probably pretty dry right now (winter-spring) for you which could be a factor.

just drink more beer.

There are many things that can make your peepee look Yellow besides being dehydrated.

Do you get up at night and urinate?

I drink a ton of water (always have) but the weather is so great out here in So Cal that I have been riding a bunch. You should visit sometime

I have the same issues as well but I have mutant sweat glands. Ask anyone that rides with me. I would literally wring boat loads of sweat out of my Halo. A typical 70oz CamelBak will only last me about 1 to 1.5 hours if I'm lucky. I do drink a ton of water during off days and before rides. What did my friend call me? A sprinkler.

I read recently that you should divide your body weight by 1/2 and that is how many ounces of water you should take in per day. I have been trying, but it makes me pee a lot! That being said, my urine is mostly clear, which is your goal....aye?

West Side.

you should take up swimming. since 80% of your body is water, only 20% of you has to swim.

I read in the MBAction that 29er riders have to drink 11.5% more water to compensate for the increase in tire size.
