Default Bikeskills Clinic, Saturday, March 22, 8AM Aliso

Howdy STR peeps.

Joe Lawwill is doing a clinic this Saturday and he's got a couple spaces left. If you're interested email him at socalclinics@bikeskills.com.

This is a beginner/intermediate clinic. Let me define beginner though: You need to have some basic levels of fitness and experience on a mountain bike. This shouldn't be your first time on a mountain bike (or any bike for that matter).

Topics covered:
  • Bike setup (shocks, tires, handlebar, saddle height, etc)
  • Basic and intermediate drills on pavement
  • Trail ride and application of skills
  • Some examples of skills learned: getting over obstacles, reading the terrain, choosing lines, body positioning for climbing and descending, and more.
  • You can ask questions and get some tips in specific areas, too.
Saturday, March 22, 2008. 8AM at the park on Canyon Vistas.

For more info or to sign up email Joe at socalclinics@bikeskills.com.

MTBR link for some user feedback. Here are some youtube bikeskills videos, too.

Disclaimer: I'm not currently working for Bikeskills but I have in the past and do advise them from time to time. I get nothing from them for posting this. Just helping out some friends. Let me know if I shouldn't share this type of info here. Thanks.

OMR,
At first I was thinking that "most" was surely an overstatement. Then I went to look at the noobie ride post and... yeah, you're right.

95 people coming! That's amazing!

I would really love to do one of these clinics. I did one in Irvine when I first started riding but I needed something a little more like this. Hopefully I will be able to make one of these eventually.

Oh yeah, Joe likes to stop at that spot and teach people to get up that ledge on the far right.

I took a class with Joe about a year ago. He is a great instructor and an amazing rider. I really learned a lot from the class. My girlfriends and I are taking another class next month.

I joined his class ( a walk on) saturday and was really stoked. Joe can freakin fly, what an incredible rider. That guy had me taking on sections of trail I
never would have tried. I must have attempted the ledge on cholla eight
times. It was awesome to be able to just stop on the trail and work a
section out. I was stunned when we pulled up next to this stair step rock
and he told us we were going to giddy up over that thing… 3 tries and I was
up and over… very cool. I like the j-hop big time. We bugged down Rockit
and stopped at another section that I’d normally would have ‘gone around’
but Joe had us up and over the ledge in a couple of tries… I have to tell
you my heart was pounding. I’m glad you posted this notice.
I owe you a beer for the hot tip…

Free beer! No worries. Glad you liked it.

I watched Joe flow down the rock garden on rockit once. He looked like a dolphin. He'd flow, hop over a rock, flow, hop, flow, hop. It was like he was on pavement.

PS - I dig the avatar.
