Linky here: http://www.singletrackworld.com/article.php?sid=2738

I wasn't expecting Ibis! Nice to hear he got himself a new ride.

Ibis Chooses Lopes, Lopes Chooses Ibis

We've just received a brief but very interesting message from Scot Nicol of Ibis Cycles. Apparently they've signed up the current World 4X Champ "Flyin'" Brian Lopes.

"Howdy,

"Scot Nicol here, writing from Laguna Beach in Southern California, where we've just inked a deal with World Champion Brian Lopes to ride for little old Ibis Cycles! This is great news for you, for us and for Brian.

"If you don't know already the quick story on Brian is that he's currently World 4X Champ (his fourth set of World Champion stripes), and has been World Cup Champ Six times and USA National Champ 9 times.

"Brian is obviously a super talented rider, and beyond that he's a personable and approachable guy who is a lot of fun to be around.

"In addition to promotional efforts, Brian will be collaborating with us on our new product development, starting, well, a couple days ago.

"We'll try to keep you all informed of Brian's schedule as it is updated, probably though a link on our website and probably his.

"Speaking of that, to learn more about Brian, go to www.brianlopes.com for the full skinny.

Cheers, over and out.
Scot"

It will be interesting to see what he is riding when I run into him riding around town.

Hans rides these bikes that I have no idea what they are. Last time I saw him on the dirt his bike looked more like a touring bike.

That's funny. The current issue of MB Action has him covered in Oakley/GT garb. Yesterday, the GT rep was in the shop and I asked him about it and he wouldn't deny that a relationship still existed.

Looks like Han's is still riding for GT:

Laguna Beach, Jan '08

The new year has started and my schedule is filling up rapidly.

I'm glad to announce that I have signed for 2 more years with GT Bicycles and Fox Racing Shox....

You are now sentenced to 100 laps of the Fontana 4X course, all of which must be completed in succession and in one day.

Just kidding. I've never ridden one, and don't know anybody who would own one, so I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Well...uh', I'm not sure what to think. I've known about the IBIS bikes for a long time and I know they make some great XC and AM rigs.

I wonder what 4X/DS hardtail will look like from IBIS?

I guess we'll find out.
