Default UCI World Cup

Anyone else going to the UCI world Cup at Home Deopt this weekend?

I went last year and i was amazing!!

The coolest cycling event i have ever seen is the 40K Madison in which approx 20-30 guys are on the track at the same time racing in teams or 2 but only one rider racing at a time. When they switch riders they do a roller derby esq whip to get your team mate up to speed. The Madison final is on Sunday afternoon.

I think I'll be there on Sunday afternoon. I'll be in a The Path t-shirt.

There is also a UCI Cyclocross race at Bonelli Park Saturday the 19th. Since there are UCI World Cup points up for grabs there should be some pretty big Pro's there (maybe some from Europe). All we need is some rain to make it nice and muddy for the race!

I'll be there on Friday night and may pop in for a couple other races (if time allows), but the Sunday afternoon session I'm doing a meet n greet kinda thing with all the winners (and possibly one random rider from each race).

I'll look for you guys after the event--Ash and John will be watching Friday and Sunday

Record number of athletes may alter L.A. Track World Cup schedule

Carson, Calif. (January 15, 2007)--The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Track Cycling World Cup Classics return to the United States Jan. 18-20, 2008 at the ADT Event Center at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

More than 400 athletes from over 40 countries, including the United States, have confirmed their participation in the three-day event at The Home Depot Center. Due to the high volume of athletes, additional races and heats may be added, and the event schedule is subject to change. Fans, ticket holders and media members are encourage to visit www.homedepotcenter.com or www.usacycling.org early Friday morning, as Session 1 on both Friday and Saturday may start as early as two hours prior to the ticketed start time.

World Cup races are amongst the most prestigious on the UCI calendar, providing riders and countries the opportunity to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games in China. After stops in Sydney and Beijing, the Los Angeles event is the third of the four-race World Cup series in the 2007-08 season. Because there is no qualification system for the World Cup series, entries cannot be precisely foreseen. In a year where more than double the amount of athletes is competing as in previous years, additional races and heats may be added to accommodate the record number of participants, which will result in an earlier start time on Friday and Saturday, when qualification events will be held.
