I'd imagine slow or cancelled. I don't think many people were riding at all due to the rain.

Maybe he'll post up on the site.

Default Yea.....

With the way it was raining here in Vista.....I really doubt it went off well......just curious.

So now that I am a official non-lurker....maybe I can participate in some rides. My broken foot is almost healed

Definitely!

I think that Robert probably should've posted the races up more online. I got an email from him, which is the only way I knew about it.

He also probably had flyers at a few local shops.

I read through the website and they race/ride rain or shine. I'm going to have to do it here soon as it's in my backyard at Vaillake.

Yeah, they did cancel the race last weekend I read, though.

Default Weekly race series at Vail Lake

Robert asked me to pass this along:

From: Robert Herber
Subject: "Racers and Chasers" weekly race series at Vail Lake

I am starting a Weekly race series here at Vail Lake. It is designed to be on Saturdays but occasionally it is on Sundays when the Fontana races start up. I gotta race too.

I have a complete schedule posted on my race website. Well would really enjoy it if you can pass this on to your friends and come out and enjoy the new trail that I have been building.

The races are $15 online or $20 if you like to procrastinate, like me. There will also be kids races for $5.

Race start is 1:30 for the kids race and 2:00 for the longer race. The loops are designed to be around an hour long for the faster racers.

Some of the featured item are:

100% Pro payback
Flatland BMX demo
Unique classes
"Hole Shot" award

For more info go to the website VailLakeRacing.com

HAHA well it look like I am finally here and can answer the questions about last weekend

First a side note, Not sure what training rock I have been living under but I had NEVER heard of this forum. OOPS sorry

Well here we go. The first race was last weekend and amazingly eneough there was about 10 people that showed up. Most of us did not ride, but the Legend Eric Carter did however not only show up but braved the rain. It was a bummer of a first event with the rain and me getting my van stuck but the good news is that the weather looks GREAT for this sunday and the trail are AWESOME now!!!

Well off to race Fontana this saturday then watch you guys race on Sunday

Check out VailLakeRacing.com for more info or message me personally

A race 10 mins from my house, very nice!

I ride there all the time. 3 days ago I took my 2 yr old out and made the main sections of the loop (backwards) pulling a trailer. I skipped all the in and outs of the lower canyons because of the super wet ground.
He was so stoked on getting sport beans to eat that he wasn't even worried about the downhills.

I love Jason's courses out there. Now I do not know how I would fair in an xc race....The stratagy is a bit different than the endurance gig.

Jason does a great job making fun races that everyone enjoys. I would definitely encourage you to come out and ride with us as it is great training for the 12 hour. Ya it is quite a bit different as I know from first hand experience. 12 hour riding requires patience which I happen to not have a lot of. Hope to see you out there!

Hey guys just an update, I got the course laid out and I am going to be using a lot of the 12 hr course because it has already been marked. This will work out great for us and will be a lot of fun. Oh and I found a little trail that bypasses some of the fireroad. It is new, and more fun than the fireroad.

Also big news with a title sponsor coming on board and putting up $$ for a hole shot award. And the 100% pro payback is pretty cool also.

See you out at vail!!!

Oh the new site is RacersandChasers.com however you will still be re-directed from VailLakeRacing.com

Default highly recommended

rode the races on Jan 19th.
Very good event. Robert seems like a cool guy, lots of single track including some that is new and has not been part of the 12 hour course.

I am not a sprinter but went for the 2 lap expert class because well, no shame in my (slow) game and what is to lose, it is all about fun.

Had a good time, got to spend some time off the fire roads and on the single track.

Overall highly recommended.

I plan on making it at least a monthly event with more trips possible if others are willing to carpool.
(F150 with room for 4 adults/4 bikes usually 2 seats open)

Thanks again RObert for putting things together.
