Default What to bring for the 12hrs of Temecula

OK guys, this will be my first race in over ten years and my first 12hrs ever. What are some of the basic requirements that I need to bring.
I was thinking of:
Pop-up tent w/cot and chairs
Cooler for food.(what to bring/eat?)
BBQ
Radio
Tool/stand/work mat/light

What am I missing?

Bring something to replace calories. I'm not talking about regular food but whatever you've been using, bring a lot of it. The one thing that gets most people is not replenishing their spent calories. I personally like the Hammer products and I can mix 3,000 calories (Perpetuem) in one big waterbottle. That may seem like a lot but if you're in race mode you'll be burning in excess of 1,000 calories per lap, some folks even more.

Good luck!

Make a big pot of pasta, put it in your cooler - it's help with stiches. Jason the race organizer gave Neil that advice 1 time, we never race endurance events without it - it really works!

I must say that I am getting very excited about it all. On of the guys that's on our shop team has been bugging me to do it but I was hesitant. So, I went for a "little" spin with him at Daley today at race-pace and did fine. I'm going to pre-ride the course this Wed. if anyone wants to join me. Not sure which bike to use -the comfy but heavy(28lbs) AM bike or the light+fast but brutal SS. Probably both...

I did the race last November. It got pretty cool at night so bring layers. Change of clothes is a good idea. Chamios Butter for the nether regions. Pasta, electrolyte drinks, easy digestables. Nothing new to your system. Small crustless sandwiches PBJ, turkey (no veggies). Think efficient buring carbs - NOT sugar and probably not caffine. Perpetuum, Heed, Hammer gel, etc. Start drinking water now - a little at a time all day long everyday - hydrate. Spin don't hammer over the next few days - keeps the legs fresh and heart alert.
Your pop-up, chairs, cooler idea are right on. Bring some big blankets for the lady. If you are a relay team, maybe a laptop or dvd player with some psych-up movies. Last year my race team brought a fifth wheel, a trainer, and my sister-in-law, she is a CMT. Could not schedule her this time around. there is a BBQ setup where a company makes tri-tip sandwiches and other stuff. Jason puts on a fun event. Hope this helps. My team is The Nimrods - you'll probably see the back of our shirts! LOL - before you pass us!!That is if we have shirts. Maybe just socks, yeah, you'll see our socks.

Light.

You will not be allowed out on the course after prolly 4:30 this time around without lights. NiteRider brought a fifth wheeler to the January race. Great bunch of guys -- gave me an extender on the spot for my Evolution so I could backpack it, and were powering up batts for folks for free. They were not at the June race (no lights were required until around 7:30 when a lot of folks were already done for). I am hoping to see them this Saturday as I broke my helmet attachment for my new MiNewt X2 as I was attempting to mount it (*grrrrr*).

M210 - you can pass me your water bottle when I pass you on the right. I ride an Intense Tracer and we will be hanging around my VW Silver EuroVan. Be ready to help me push my bike up the brutal uphill section while I take an inhaler and puff on a stogie...I gotta walk that Mutha. We preran the course two weeks ago...it was loose, dry, hot, and relentless.

Lap me? ZINGGG? Darn them be fightin' words. I'll be lookin' for you and yours. What is a twinsix speedy 6 jersey? Is that a club name, if so, you guys are pretty organized. Our "Team" is riding for a charity - the American Military Families organization. The sponsoring thing was one of the gangs brain children. Not too many brainy things happen in our tent. Oh, and just to confuse you - I might pass you on the left.
