Toyota no longer makes SC's if I am not mistaken. But if you do some research the TRD SC was made by Eaton superchargers so you might be able to find out what part number will work for the 3.4. Now that being said forced induction from superchargers and turbo chargers is hard on any motor and will cause the motor to wear faster then a normally aspirated motor. So while it may sound like a big boost in power for you old motor that has lost its power its just going to kill it faster. I would be looking to find the cause of the loss of power in the stock motor before I spend some big money on new stuff. Check out the forums at TTORA.com that is one of the best places I know for toyota information.

Nice rigs all of you. But what's with all the fancy GPS and pretty 4X stuff.

Get a REAL truck, point it where you wanna go and let her rip! Here's my baby - '73 Ford Bronco. A go anywhere - dent it if you want - use it, abuse it and put it away dirty kinda ride.

Ride on

Good point. I had a '77 Jeep CJ 7 when I was growing up back in New Hampshire. It was a stubborn tank that would crawl over everything, and handle deep snow on miles snowmobile trails. Best thing was there was nothing remotely complicated or expensive about it. I dented it and scratched it constantly. There's a lot of places I took it only because it was such an old, bare-bones rig.

Ah....my hick days.

I've got the 4Runner in the photo. It's a 2000 with 110k. It doesn't have the balls it had when it was new (go figure?!) and I'm thinking somewhere down the line I'd put a supercharger on to tease more power out of it.

Good idea or bad? Will I just blow the motor sooner that way? Should I save the money (and how much would it be) for a full engine/clutch rebuild later on when needed?

It's fine driving around town but when it's loaded up with bikes and camping gear, and hits any kind of hill, it's a dog compared to what it used to be.
TRD made a 3.4L supercharger for a while but I heard its been discontinued. Look into STS or URD. I believe both of them make charger or turbo units for the 3.4L.

Driving a 'Pick up truck' is nothing to be proud of

The only times its acceptable are as follows:

1) You're a red neck
2) You come from Texas or one of those southern states where they talk funny and tell you that you have a pretty mouth
3) Its a British built Land Rover Defender SWB with a snorkel
4) You're a farmer and have to put cow dung in the back or something.

keith, i'm all for the Defender but looking at the prices over here it's depressing 35k for a D90 that's got over 60k miles on it? i'll pass. I had an Avant/Touring/Estate (pick your poison) and love them just want to be able to throw it in the back and not worry bout dinging up the vehicle.

you know how the current mount uses those plastic strap/tongue that goes between the bed and the tailgate? well i was thinking why not get a round steel tube or square tubing and span it across the bed of the truck and then weld the mounts directly onto the tubing. then at the ends of the tub a 45 degree brace comes off the tube and then to the side bed for strength and stability. i can sketch if you need to

Sweet truck. I have a stock Tundra and love it. Yours takes it to another level.

Did the GPS unit install into an OEM slot, or did you have to have a custom install? Did you lose any features when you put it in?

Foo, I get what your saying but it seems like a lot of work to do for not a whole lot of gain.. I'am happy with the current set up it holds the bike well enough.

Madrider, The gps I have is a Kenwood unit that mounts under the seat or wherever you want to put it and a cable is run to the head unit which is also a Kenwood unit.
