Unhappy Forced Unemployment...

...or as I like to think of it, time off for a road trip.

The Writers Guild went on strike this evening shutting down my career until further notice. I might go on a Baja roadie trip or at least put in some miles toward my Vision Quest training. Anyone want to go on a road trip anywhere? I'll drive.

If I didn't have riding to fall back on I'd probably have to look forward to watching re-runs on TV all day.

BTW, expect to be subjected to even more crappy 'reality' TV.

Wish I could, but for the moment I'm still employed, but I might just end up kicking my new bosses butt today and if they don't call the cops, then maybe I'll have some time to ride.

If I was close I'd go since I'm also in forced unemployment right now.

OMG, just got a call from work. Since the strike starts Monday we're going to try to squeek out one more episode this weekend. No ride for me (except maybe to work and back), but one more paycheck!

Glad to hear you can crank out one more episode. The bummer about the strike that many people don't understand is that it effects so many more of us than the writers. I hope this doesn't drag on too long. But in the meantime, it's a great excuse to ride ride ride!

Oh man, my wife and I love that show, that sucks.. We live for Monday nights, that night alone has all our favorites. Nice break for us from Sponge Bob, Car's, HOt Wheels, Toy Story, blah, blah, blah.. Two boys under the age of three, so our TV time is screwed.. But Mondays, the boys must suffer, I guess in the coming weeks that won't be so, unless they settle things quickly.

Sounds like a great opp for some serious road trips and endless single track, I only wish I could do the same. I am also unemployed, but I don't think the wife would be to crazy about me leaving for a MTB road trip.. Oh, a day will come when I can road trip with my boys and search out the ultimate single track. Until then, its endless dirty diapers and Sponge Bob marathons.. Happy trails to ya.. Erik

My wife and i love that show too, patrick walburton is awesome. im really sorry you will be out of work it does suck, but being in a union myself i see where the writers are coming from and fighting (strike) is always the last resort. i have been on a picket line and that sucks too. so hopefully it will end real soon! BUT............... in the meantime RIDE,RIDE,RIDE!!!!!

Are they stopping all filming then also? I'm not too savvy into tv knowledge I just watch a lot of it!

I read last week that there were enough episodes to last until January?

Depends on the show. Some are heavily writer driven like our show. They re-write some scenes even as we're shooting them to come up with funnier lines. And since many of the exec producers are also the writers, some shows are either going to continue headless or stop shooting. Movies will most likely keep going. Late night talk shows have stopped.

Wish you had your forced unemployment earlier or mine later. I had 3 weeks to kill but the smoke had me indoors good part of it. A road trip would been killer!
