Default InCycle Folks

Do any of you know a guy who works at Incycle (I want to say somewhere in the Sam Dimas area?) who's dad is a cop? I know there are some Incycle dudes here.

I was on my road bike cruising up Santa Anita canyon a little after midnight a few nights ago, and as I was coming to a stop sign a police SUV cruised up to me and said "Don't stop on my account" and kept on going. I was thinking, "Damn, thats a pretty cool cop, I've never heard that before." As I made my way up to Sierra Madre he was there pulled over. I went up to him to say hello and it turns out he's a cyclist also (mountain bikes, mainly downhill) and him and his son ride together.

Either way, just wanted to shout out to whoever it was: Your dad's a cool guy and I really wish more cops would follow his example.

Ride on.

Yeah don't stop for him at the stop sign, stop for you so you don't get careened by the drunk azzhole about to run the stop.

I'm kind of amazed this police officer is telling you not to stop at a stop sign.

Default That's Arcadia area right??

That has to be Brandon's dad (BFloFoxRider is on the Incycle DH race team)...he's an officer for Arcadia and rides. My brother is a firefighter for them but hopefully you won't ever need to see his face.

Sierra Madre... that’s almost funny... Last year I was riding with two others though Sierra Madre. We slow, but don’t completely stop at all stop signs. This was about 7 or 8 am on a Sat morning. We rolled though a “T” intersection, we were on the straight through part, no turn, no way to interfere with traffic. Lights and sirens from behind – no kidding.

We got pulled over and “spoken to”. No citation came of it. During the “lesson” the officer was giving, I kept an eye on my riding partner, wondering what she would do if a cite book came out. She was listening, nodding her head, but never admitting to, or exactly agreeing with the officer. I pretty much just kept my mouth shut...

My riding partner is a sergeant with the California Highway Patrol. She said, “well, at least I didn’t have to get my, get out of jail free card out (off duty badge)!”

I’m much more careful when riding through Sierra Madre now!

Nah, I was already stopped completely when he pulled along side me, he was just joking around. I'm sure he knows how many cyclists have no intentions of stopping until they see a cop. I was obeying the law, it was just nice to see a cop with a sense of humor.

Awesome, thanks. Small world indeed.

Sierra Madre is notorious for ticketing cyclists who run stop signs. It's one place where I actualy come to a complete stop when I'm riding.

So I think you need to introduce me to your friend, I really need a riding partner with an off duty badge, haha.

I once got "pulled over" while I was riding my bike drunk as hell on 4th of July. He told me that riding a bike while drunk is a DUI but he let me go anyway.

You rule. Riding a bike drunk is great, I'm glad I'm not the only one who's done it.

Yes, because of my incident, and those of others that I know, we rarely if ever ride "through" SM any more, and therefore we rarely if ever spend any money with the business there. I'm sure they don't mind. Seems there is plenty of money in that city anyway - maybe from ridiculous citations?

Probably, they really come down hard on cyclists. Nevermind the grandmas in their Cadillacs who's vision is worse than a bat, us cyclists must be more dangerous.

I'm pretty confident I could out sprint a cop car on the right streets... not that I would ever try, though
