For me, I wanted a very small, light camera that was cheap. Given how much I crash, I'm willing to sacrifice a small degree of picture quality so that I won't be upset when I break my camera. I use a cheapie 5 megapixel Kodak. It actually takes very nice pics as long as you don't zoom in too much. I've dropped it on rocks, gotten it wet, crashed on it multiple times and I can't break it.
