Life Without an iPhone (Day 7)

So I lost my iPhone on September 26th and I'm going through withdrawals. After using it for three months and alternating between my CrackBerry Pearl and Treo 650, I've come to this conclusion...

There's no other phone I like using as A PHONE more than my beloved iPhone. Yeah the iPod and internet features are nice, but honestly, I don't think there's another phone out there that has the same elegant ease of use as this little gadget from Apple.

I'm absolutely spoiled.

Now I'm torn between buying another one or waiting it out for the rumored 3G iPhone to come out in Quarter 1 of 2008.

I'd wait also cause when the new 3G phones come out, it'll be the same price as purchasing a current phone. Ann was going to run out and purchase one of the remaining 4GB iPhones when the price reduction was announced. But after thinking about it, why buy a phone that's already outdated when the new one is around the corner? I've tried the iPhone's internet and I'm sure you know, it blows. Just use your Crackberry or Treo for now because really, aren't you getting a cell phone just to make phone calls (in it's most basic form/use)?

It's not the 3G iPhone you're waiting for.... It's the 3G network to go with it. Too bad they made the mistake of marrying themselves to AT&T.

I am using AT&T's 3G UMTS network in SoCal right now, speeds are great.

Sweet. Everyone with Gen 1 iPhones should be getting instructions on how to upgrade (it's supposedly just firmware)....

I am not using UMTS on an iPhone however (Treo 750)

I think it's more than a firmware upgrade to a GPRS radio to be able to work on UTMS/WCDMA, but I could be wrong.

def not a firmware update for the iphone there is no 3g chip built into the iphone and it's been confirmed by many already that have dissected the device

as for ATT's network, they may tout that they have more bars all over but it makes no use to a person when you have full bars and cant make a call during the peak periods...that's just ridiculous. There's a company that does independent drive tests almost every month in the major markets (telephia) and we (T-mobile) have come out ontop in terms of lowest dropped calls out of ALL the carriers in the market for 4 straight times i believe.

ATT relies too much on their old 850Mhz frequency to make up for the short comings of their network. and their customer care is appalling.
