So I'm interested in getting a Wii station. I have never been into TV games, but I have to admit, this game system truly has my attention.
I did the bowling the other night and had a blast. It seems a great way to have an evening of fun with close friends who don't drink. I know, who would ever think I have friends that don't drink? -but I do. It looks like the Boogie game would be pretty comical too. Any thoughts about it? Pro's and Con's are welcome. thanks

My girlfriend wants to get one. I guess it comes with some standard games that keep her entertained when she goes to her friend's house. I was going to get one for her, but her friend's WII is in Japanese, so she now wants me to also get one in Japanese (her Japanese is better than her English). I can't read Kanji yet, so I won't know how to use the damn thing!

There's not many cons to the WII system but the worst has happened with my room mates and I.
A WII remote was thrown into a brand new 42' VIZIO TV at our condo last month by a roomate of mine. The TV cracked and is completely broken. Apparentely they told me it was an intense game of bowling. There was no warranty for this so we are still stuck without a TV. So please wear the wrist straps even though it may be dumb!!! |

Oh, I should also ask, does anyone know if games for the US market will work on Japan models?
WIIs are hard to find here in the US? That seems odd. They're everywhere overseas.

the novelty wears off quickly.
the gf persuaded me into sleeping over the night they were first sold. We were 10th or so at Target, and managed to grab 2. We sold one on ebay for profit which then paid for the 2nd that we were initially going to sell, but decided to keep. We get it on, play Wii Sports, which is fun and all, but unless you're playing with others, playing alone on that system isn't that much fun. Ours has been sitting by the tv collecting dust because she doesn't play it, and I only managed to turn it on once every two months or so to play some old school Donkey Kong. That's probably the best part of the system, buying old games from SNES, NES, or N64. Also, I just can't play new games with those crappy graffics. ![]() |

I have one but haven't played it in awhile - just don't have much time to although I would like to. Hooked it up in the living room for a family get-together and everyone loved playing it. I've even gone a few wii boxing rounds with my dad.
If you have time to play it and especially if you have people over a lot, I'd say go for it. david's graphic comment just points out that wii doesn't have the graphical horsepower (or pricetag) that something like an xbox 360 or ps3 would have. That was done on purpose by nintendo though - they wanted to focus on making it affordable and as fun as possible.

George said it best, the system is best in a group environment. We have a board game night at our house once a month with lots of friends over and before the night is over the Wii is always turned on and people are sweating playing the boxing.
We also had a broken TV like Skippy, must be common, be sure to use the strap and stay away from the TV, a guy punched the TV while boxing and broke the controller as well and the screen. Tons of fun though with the right people. I never play it unless people are over and the only game i have is th Wii sports pack.

yeah my graphics comment is just pointing out that they aren't on par with the other systems, but that was done on purpose, yet I still don't like it.
However, you have two or three other people over and want some fun, plug the Wii in. Wii Sports (included w/system) has hours of fun in it, but again, mostly only when playing with others. built in wireless connection as well let's you browse online for free with the opera browser -the Virtual Console is the thing built in that allows you to buy old school games (must have internet connection) with prepaid points cards. The more popular games they somehow make compatible, and more are being added each week. I'm sure that list is available online somewhere. BTW, Wii Golf > * I hate boxing for the mere fact my gf punches towards the ground and still beats me even if I'm dodging left or right. ![]() edit: I have 2 Wii Points Cards for sale that I'm going to sell because we're not using them. $15? |

OK Andy, first of all I am going to give you a little video game 101 info. The games are called video games not TV games, lol. I am a big time gamer and the Wii at first was stupid to me but once I played it, it was a lot of fun. I know for the Wii the is a "mod" that can be done that will let you play copied games, but you did not hear that from me
