some of you may already know this, but i though id post anyhow.
This man, who i have never met, has been an incredible inspiration to me. about 6 moths ago i got REALLY into rally cars and every aspect of it, regularly taking any car i can get my hands on to a local gravel parking lot to test myself and learn new techniques. I always looked at videos of this guy in complete awe, he is incredible. we will miss you Colin.. http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5...avjdQrnoyXMCzg

totally tragic too...i notice though, these race car drivers have this fascination with helicopters and planes. Maybe it's the speed and freedom of flight. The WRC has lost one of its great heros.

I loved the McRae video games
![]() But really . . . I casually followed rally racing and he was a kickass driver and a standup guy. Sad news for sure.

It's always tough to describe the loss of a someone like McRae - he was an artist behind the wheel, not a technician, and as such was breathtaking to watch...he'll be missed. He already is...

I used to watch Colin and his brother Alister rallying in the Welsh forests. COlin had a style all of his own, spectacular and totally different.

To me it looks like this guy had a pretty damn good life. I mean.. he's a professional Rally driver, totally famous world wide, and he dies in a helicopter. What a rock star! I could go out like that.
Oh, btw.. I bought a Subaru WRX because of this guy. Last edited by jake; 09-24-2007 at 08:58 PM. Reason: because |

In Europe Subaru were nothing until McRae started putting it sideways every which way. All of a sudden Cosworths were out and WRX's/STI's were where its at. I've never seen anyone drive the way that Colin did, talent off the charts.

At the last X-Games he rolled the car on the last turn and still finished 2nd losing by the smallest margin. Respect
