Default Apple gave me my cash!!

Okay...I got my cash from Apple and now I have to figure out what to grab from the Apple Store. Any ideas?

If you haven't gotten your Apple credit for your iPhone, all you have to do is go here:

I got mine too. I ended up picking up the Jawbone Bluetooth headset today. So with the coupon I only ended up paying 29 dollars out of my pocket.

I am also unsure how well a 24-inch iMac will do for processing RAW files over and over. I cannot afford to jump right into a G5 with all the goodies I dont have a spare 10g!

About a few grand for Mac Pro. Have you tried searching to see if others are doing similar work on iMacs? What software do you use? Maybe they'll let you go to the Mac version for a discount.

That's a gaping hole in the Apple lineup - a "true" desktop that doesn't cost over $3000. Maybe around the $1500-$2000 range but upgradeable. Mmm, that'd be nice.

you should have no problem at all working with RAW files in an iMac just make sure you add more ram, at least 2 gig or more. I got 3rd gen. 20" iMac C2D with 2 gig ram and pretty much it can handle whatever i throw at it just no serious video editing though and still boots up like brand new.

I talk to alot of other photographers and all of them run a G5 tower and 30-inch screens, etc... I cant afford to step that large off the bat. I may give a iMac a shot and see how it does just get as much ram as I can. I found some site that sell Mac ram for much less than Apple.

I would need Adobe Suite CS2 or CS3 or atleast Photoshop and Illustrator. The Canon software I use I can get. I also need all the windows office applications so I guess Windows Office for Mac?

Technically you could run Open Office which works with all office formats if you don't wanna shell out some money for office right away (office 2008 for mac is in beta). As far as ram - you don't need to get "mac" ram. Just get ram that matches the specs of the stock ram. I run 2gb of normal kingston ram in my macbook just fine. The G5's were pickier with ram though . . .

Thanks man yeah I am unsure what I am going to do. Stepping into Apple land is something I have wanted to do but the cost of getting into it for me is higher than the average user. So, I just have to make sure I am ready. I wish I knew as many people who could get me Mac software as I know in the PC world haha

sooo, all you mac peeps.

Let's say I'm sitting on a Dual G5 server that's a couple years old, very low run time (used it as a testing platform briefly for s/w development), not sure about cpu speed or ram. its a tower.

it's just been sitting, hasn't been booted in over a year, thinking I should unload it... what would it be worth (ball park)????

Judging from eBay -- $600 to $800 bucks probably.

Not sure how many people have used GIMP, I've used it, but only sparingly while I waited to get Photoshop installed. It's an option.

as for the 100 bucks, how bout some stereo headphones

G5? Wasn't that was superseded by the Mac Pro over a year ago?

I run a G5 with 2.5 gigs, and can edit a crazy number of 5MB images in Photoshop CS2 without any performance degradation.

Since my lovely will be buying a new system on Friday, we were comparing specs. It looks like the generic 24" iMac will blow my G5 right out of the water.

My BIL has a 24" iMac, over a year old, but I'm not sure what flavor. He does graphics in Illustrator all day long.
