Thumbs up STR Hard Hat Hard At Work

For the past few months now, the STR HARD HAT has a tradition of being passed on from member to member. I was the most recent member to have the STR Hard Hat passed onto me, however, it was right around the time of my crash and I really couldn't do it justice. So it sat in my car..... a little too long.....patiently awaiting its next assignment, and it was not a responsibility that I took lightly.

I have been in the steel industry for 7 years now. I originally started at California Steel Industries, a steel mill in Fontana. Currently I work for Genesis Metals as a Sale Exec, and from time to time I'm required to inspect material before it's sent to a customer. This past Friday I was called out to our processing plant....and I thought hmmm mmk, what better way to put the STR Hard Hat to use.

I just wanted to let the God Father know that the STR Hard Hat protected me well, and I now in good conscience am ready to pass it on to the next STR deserving member

You beat me to it Skeeter....I've got a machine shop and you've got to keep your toes protected

My foreman thought it was cool to wear his Tevas in the shop for the 1st hour of the day until he dropped a 3" square block of stainless steel on his big toe. I'm usually not an A-hole, but I made him finish out the day........

Maybe you should be the next recipient

Have you had your turn yet? Or maybe it should go to Mammoth for the closing w/e, where STR will have a very big presence

I can take it with me to the 24hr race then maybe to Kernville where I'll have OMR wear it for a pic if he doesn't mind messing up his hair.

I've seen him ride the Traverse and after 44 miles and 8000 ft of climbing, his hair was still looking good.

Default STR at Work With Some Horsepower!

Well I received the H/H from CC a while ago and finally managed to get some pix, I work alone, so it's pretty difficult to get some shots. I presently work for Callaway Cars, where we modify Corvettes to extract more power. Our base car puts out 560 H/P to the flywheel. We also have a model called the C16 which has 616 H/P and a new Speedster which puts out 700 ponies.

I've been building cars since I was about 18, cut my teeth working for my brother on Panteras, doing ground up restorations and building race cars for semi-pro competition. It was fun building engines that put out 650 to 1000 H/P at such a young age. We had our own dyno, Superflow 800, brought up to 901 specs. and was quite a bit of fun doing developement work on the engines.

The second to last picture is the new Callaway Speedster, 300 to 350k. 700 H/P reskinned Corvette, Carbon brakes (rotors) Carbon/ Magnesuim wheels that sell for 8k a set and a host of other options. We're only building 10 of these cars.

George, the STR H/H was used to coax some more Horsepower out of these cars!

We're doing a car for them to trade some track time for our dealers, so they can get used to driving the car. Our dealers take potential customers for "test drives" and they have to be able to show them what the car is capable of, and hopefully not crash. It's easy for the inexperienced driver to lose control with some extra power under the hood. The car is getting the basic 560 H/P S/C kit, with the brake and suspension package. We also use the track for testing purposes. We will be building more cars in the future for them.
