Apple dropped the price of the 8Gb iPhone to $399 and discontinued the 4Gb model.

I too am an early geek freak and Mac addict, but it is hard to give up my sprint treo 755p and SERO plan. Unlimited Data, text, 500 plus minutes and unlimited 7pm to 7am and weekends. Perhaps the new iPod when my current one goes away.

i think it's funny two months ago people were dropping 600 on a iphone that is now 400.

just becareful of MVNO's they are piggy backing on existing networks and rent airtime and they can go belly up at any point, Amp'd is a perfect example.

[SIZE=3]I don't know. I think I'll keep holding out. I have a couple of friends with deep pockets who have already dropped 6-7 bills for the iPhone 8 gb model. Although they're very cool and have some tempting features, they're not enough for me to give up my semi-trusty Palm Treo-700wx (Windows Mobile OS) from Verizon. I have it for phone/email and some texting and it does those three just fine. Everything else is a luxury and nothing more then a toy.

When Verizon starts carrying iPhones, the price drops below $200.00 and it can do wireless sync with my Outlook, I'll re-consider. Until then, I'll admire others.

It was actually $700 with the leather case I bought with it.

But for me...it was money well spent. I'd have a hard time going back to my Treo or BlackBerry.

That's the beauty of choice. The iPhone may not be everyone's cup of tea. It's not the phone to replace all phones.

However, $299 may make the phone more attractive to those put off by the price, but were interested in getting it.

Losing Visual Voicemail by unlocking the phone to use with another carrier ain't worth losing that wonderful feature (to me, at least).

Joe rumor has it that mail for outlook exchange will be released and when that happens you can be assured that it will be embraced by the business folks. I have had countless WM devices and the crappy thing about them is that they're not native to the phone so when you go from app to app there is LAG and not to say that the iphone is blindingly fast it's just faster than a WM device. The price drop is good for those holding out but bad for us early adopters as we paid for it and now know that if we sell it we're going to take a hit. oh well such is the life of a early adopter.
