I saw this over on emptybeer and thought it was a great topic.
So, what's your other passion/hobby?? I will lay out only 1 rule. It has to be something other than family, otherwise we'd all be saying that. Feel free to list multiple. For me it would have to be Taekwondo (ATA-Songahm style). The wife and I enrolled our 2 boys in it and I my schedule allowed me to be able to take them. I sat watching for 3 weeks and decided I "might as well join them." I wasn't really interested in it before, but figured I may as well do something besides sitting there watching. Plus, I figured it would be a cool father/son experience (no I'm not violating my own rule--read on). Well, I fell in love with it and can't believe I waited so long to start. I've advanced 4 belt levels and have started to enter tournaments. I placed 1st in forms and 2nd in sparring at my first tournament--which was very unexpected. I go 3-4 times a week and I should earn my Black Belt sometime around Spring '09. I love it so much, I also joined the Leadership Program which starts you in training to become an instructor. So, let's hear yours.

I have many other passions.
Playing Music ( Drummer ) Started when I was young around 10-14 learning then after the I was in may punk bands. To many to list . At 10 I also started riding and racing Moto X and BMX racing. Shuttled some local hills on BMX bikes that was real fun. I was getting RC Crap at around that time. Ha Ha Cars Boat. Then at 12 I started collecting guns. I was heavy into Car audio when I was 15-16 then I started doing. I later started doing custom installations and working a shop. A lot of the work went in magazines and had great reviews. I still like that stuff but I now realize it is a waist of money. And your hearing. I started messing with Mountain bikes a lot. Tried DH and XC had a great time. It stayed with me the whole time I was doing other things. I just didn't have the time to go much. The DH bikes where a joke. While doing that I was going to Score races with friends at school who had parents that had race teams. It was fun. So later I started building a class 7 race truck. I started designing it with a computer program and took it from there. I welded the who project up in my garage/shop. It was fun for a while then it took all of my money . I got that thing half 1/4 of the way complete then sold it to a guy who later won the Glen Helan short course points series with it. Nice. At that time I was still into a lot of things but I was playing in 3 bands and didn't do much of anything other than play shows. =Fun. I spent my free time in that studio recording albums. after a while that got old so I took a break. And only recorded on other people records when had time. I decided I missed racing MX started getting heavily back into it. I remembered how much fun it was going to Baja and watching the races. I was racing MX and some desert races then My friend asked me if I would be interested in racing Baja I said sure. Not thinking anything of it. Then next thing ya know I had people sponsoring us and a little race team and Keith from the movie On Any Sunday Managing us. I was thinking great the guy with the 7 k signal fire from the movie and it turns out that was the guy. His chain broke and he went to drain some gas out of his bike. Well it made a trail the fire followed it right up to his bike them burned it to the ground. I asked him about that later he told me it was set up to make scene for the movie it never happened. HMM Interesting. Ok so back to the passions as you can see typing is not one of them. So I raced Baja on a YZ450 all of the team Honda guys where on 650s looking at our bike at pre registration and taking pictures. The following year they where all on 450s nice. We took a lot of crap for racing Pro class on a 450 against the 650s. It was a tough race. It was fun though in some sick sorta way. I think I am going to start racing DH. If I can get healed up from all the past injuries. Ok Here is the break down . #1 My Wife Willie #2 My Dog Eddie #3 Motorcycles all types. MX ,Triumphs,Scooters -Vespas, Lambrettas, Harleys , BMWs w/Side cars I collected all of them at one time or another over the days. I had 8-9 vespas all different years. it looked like a shop here. #4 Mountain Bikes- of all types / Helping people with them. #5 Playing Music #6 Guns -The fun kind. #7 Photography- Was doing photography for work on the side. #8 RC stuff Helicopters , cars ect.. I worked at a couple of shops. #9 FTA Sat #10 I am sure there are bunch of other things I just can't think of right now. |

Photography.
I'd like to make it a line of work at some point, but for now it's just a hobby (an expensive one at that). My Canon 20D is about 2.5 years old and I just took it in to replace the shutter. It finally gave up after over 86,000 pictures in 2.5 years and it's not my only camera. That means I have taken an average of about 90 photos a day, every day, since I bought that camera.... as a hobby. The biggest surprise about photography was to learn that the camera body is a minor expense compared to good quality lenses ![]() My other passion is coaching soccer. I'm coaching a boys U19 team this fall and it will be my 14th year of coaching. It actually crosses over to my photography hobby as the majority of my photography over the last seven or eight years has been soccer related. I wanted to get lots of shots of my kids playing as they only pass this way one time. |

Before I worked at Ultimate I had around 25-30 RC Helicopters.
Just a little out of control. That burned me out on them fixing them for everyone and never having time for my stuff so I sole most of them. I still have some Cal 50S I have a Kyosho STR that is crazy and a Road car that I have been using for drifting. = Fun |

Art - mostly acrylic painting. Tennis was a big passion during high school (var captain) but haven't done much of that recently. Programming/web design/seo come in behind all that and mountain biking.

Rock climbing and travel. Although I usually only travel to ride or climb or both. Luckily work requires I do both.

I enjoy making animal figurines with match sticks while listening to Beethoven's fifth symphony. Maybe I'll bring some to the next STR swapmeet.
