The GF and I used to watch a lot of TV... the new style 1080P widescreen lcd stuff, in High Definition, of course, like back when we blew $2,000 for an early 32" model with the Hi Def Cablecard capability, so you could hang it off a wall without a set top box and cables dangling everywhere.

In essence, I started going on evening rides with OTBMBC, trading in couch time in front of the 1080p for saddle time in front of or in the San Gabes.

That, and indeed, my bike cost more than my 1080p set, so it better get more usage, on a cost effectiveness basis.

Major benefit has been trimming down from 255 pounds to 215, feeling more energy, and meeting great people on the rides.

Nothing fancy, just my name...I didn't get the memo when I signed up regarding making it difficult for people to remember or associate with anything

I wanted the most nondescript name I could think of (including the numbers!) so that stinky wouldn't know I was spending all my time on "HIS" website when I didn't even mountain bike and had no desire to do so (or so I thought)... LOL

And it was awesome getting him to think I was psychic when I knew all about his rides and the upcoming rides before he did... LOL

I guess I kind of blew the anonymity when I started posting and mtbing!

Every Day Is A New Day

My wife stopped by work one night late when I was a tech manager at a Dot Com. We were doing a hairy product release and I was standing in the middle of the dev floor barking out orders / instructions to my team. For those of you not familiar with releasing new software on a live internet site it kinda like fixing / replacing the engine of your car while you on the freeway especially in the good "ole days. Anyways so I am barking out orders with a very serious tone and a "glare" that I guess that I have (BTW I have never noticed it) . So my wife says real loud "Geez Your such a Boss Vader!" it was a great tension breaker, the crew and I laughed...but it stuck...over the years its gotten shorter. But I will still get called Boss Vader sometimes, although I have been told I am a much more patient, calm and loving Vader these days

My wife's is much cooler "modrobin," which fits her perfectly and which is just made up from her first and maiden names

Update on mine. I was originally "Floater" but I continued to get crap about floating tootsie rolls in the pool.

I knew I needed a name change, but what?

It took awhile but I remembered a book I had when I was a kid, about Red Ryder. I even had a Red Ryder lunch box. Red Ryder was a cowboy hero of mine. That in combination with my red face when I'm riding seem to fit.

When I bought a new bike, I looked for a red bike, but the choices are limited with 29ers. No red bike, but still a red face.
