Check out www.Botanescapes.com and email them if you have any plant questions. It's my buddies landscaping business, and he is incredibly intelligent when it comes to plants.

"This is kind of a random question, but on days that I'm not riding i'm walking wood canyon w/ my family. Well, my wife and I both love that smell that you smell when you're in the canyon...I believe it's the bright yellow mustard plant that we're smelling there's also a plant that grows alongside the mustard yellow flower and it looks like dill but that has more of a licorice smell to it. But it's really earthy and weedy smell and we'd like to know what species of plant that and if it's possible to go to a nursery and buy that to plant in our backyard so we can have a bit of that at home. Anyone know?"
duan- I am somewhat of an expert in local flora and ecology. next time we ride, I'll be happy to tell you anything about our native plants. Planting native plants in your own yard is a great way to protect our native ecology and provide habitat for native fauna(especially birds) -G |

as for the mention of tree of life nursery, they're only open to the public select fridays. check their website ahead of time. http://www.treeoflifenursery.com/ for the other plant smells, keep in mind that there are three main types of sage and all have a unique smell. black sage, purple sage and california sage (latin name listed above) the black sage is usually seen in the SJT area.
