That's rad. I've been looking at this trip for a few years. If my friends would stop having destination weddings every year I might have been able to go by now. Maybe I should have a destination wedding in Chile - ha. That will show them. Then we'll go to Costa Rica on the way home to surf, kayak and dive and stop by New Zealand for riding. Now I'm just delusional. Thanks for the pics.

candidly the trip is a blast and highly recommend it for anyone needs and off-season fix (and some late night party'n).

note - resorts are not as developed on mtn as much as in US, so be prepared to rope tow up alot of hills (not all runs have lifts). also cannot say trips have not been w/o incident for my friends. past trips have included a nasty heli crash (yes, no BS) and narrow escape from an cornishe (sp?) that broke off

With Magne-Traction!! Nice!! But helping to save the environment is gonna cost me $1200? There better be a guarantee that I'll land every trick I try if I buy that thing!!

This description sounds like a space-age condom:
"8. PCBs - Polymer Castor Blend Surface - micro ribbed topsheet polymer that is light, tough and structured with grooves to maximize strength and gription."
I've got an original Limited Edition Magne-Traction and I love it. I may grab the new one for next season that's a bit longer.

Talking D@mn Adam!!!!!

I usually don't begin board lust until at least Oct... d@mn you board riding grasshopper!

I started riding 18 years ago (47 at the time) when my youngest wanted to learn the sport of snowboarding. There were no teachers at that time and we just bought some ugly a$$ boards with square tails and fell a lot the first day (normal learning curve) and linked a few turns the second and by the end of the third, we were on the expert slopes and have never looked back since. This coming from a skier who started skiing when I was 13. I took up biking because it kept you in shape for ski season!

I since transitioned to better boards ... now on an Arbor Woody that I dearly love and will board anything on the mountain. I'm also a climber and have used boards to make 14,000 ft descents. I love of smell of powder in the mornings, to paraphrase the good colonel... and can't wait until snow season.. last year sucked in CA.

Soooo what do I see but your post... again d@mn you! and thanks for waking the snow lust gods earlier than expected.

OMR - You my young friend are a true Renaissance (sp?) man! Only ridden Arbor once at demo (liked it) but have a few friends that ride them and love them. Arbor def makes some sweet OG looking boards. Hope we can hook up on hills as well for a few turns/rides through the park come the winter. I tried to get a STR snow day get away going last year but my back "situation" f'd that up. Maybe this year if rehab goes well.

Not sure if anyone had seen this sad news but guess i'll post here since on topic of boarding and Chile

It is with great sadness that I must write you today to tell you of the tragic passing of former SSCV Snowboard Coach Felipe Parker Undurraga…. “Pepo” as he was known to all of his friends.

Pepo was a member of the SSCV Coaching Staff from 2003-2006. He was beloved by all of the athletes and had an enormous impact on the every one of the kids he met and ever coached. Chile’s most famous snowboard athlete, Pepo was a national hero for his exploits on snow around the world.

His life was taken from us, far too early at 27 years of age, in a tragic car accident several days ago. His funeral was in Chile yesterday. Following the ceremony, Pepo’s brother Juan related: “there was a huge turnout at the funeral and something very ironic...it had been raining all day and when we all got in our cars to leave to bury him....it started to snow...it hardly ever snows in Santiago.....”

Rest in peace Pepo. We will miss you.

Adam, that all we'd need... I can see the newspaper headlines now: "STR (local SoCal MTB club) takes over Snow Summit... men tremble in fear and hide their women! Trails completely streaded... no snow left on mountain!" Yeah, it'd be fun. Hopefully, your back will cooperate and we can organize a Newby Ride this winter at a local mountain. A lot of us are nuckle draggers

Most sorry to hear about Pepo. As they say, the good die young...

See you soon.
