Yes in fact we are new to So-Cal from MPLS....
As of right now, we do not know anyone who was directly affected by this devastating tragedy, But do have several friends that are first responders and a very close friend who is a journalist for the Star Tribune (mpls newspaper). It has been a long and busy 24 hrs for some of them..I do worry about how seeing something like this may affect them for months to come. Minneapolis is a big city with a small town feel - the whole city is personally devastated as are Neil and I! Its surreal sitting in Sunny So-Cal and watching on the news a place your all to familiar with - that stretch of highway was something we traveled on regularly. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the persons and families affected. |

I've got aunts and uncles in Minneapolis, Fridly and Turtle Lake. All are safe but stunned. Surlygal - last night I stopped at BevMo to find some brew for the Beeks ride on Saturday. Sure enough, they carry Leinie's Summer Wheat. Sadly, that's the only flavor they carry. I've got an order of Berry Weiss coming in soon.

My wife grew up there and still has aunts, uncles, cousins and friends there. As far as we know everyone is OK. Still haven't reached some family friends though, but I'm sure they are all OK. Apparently my wife's aunt has a close friend that was affected by it, but we don't know in what capacity or how severely.

I've got customers all over the Mpls area and have crossed that bridge many times. Crazy situation.
surlygal, is your screen name at all related to the awesome Mpls-area brewery called Surly Brewing Co?

If you ever run into Surly Brewing beers, drink them! They make fantastic beer. Their Bender is one of the best beers I have ever had, and that is saying a lot.
