You can safely bet that Jobs didn't go down to the Home Despot and buy a truckload of window glass.

There are different chemical compositions that make glass very strong and resistant to breakage. Aluminum oxide deposition is a common method of making surfaces scratch resistant.

The last watch I wore, over ten years ago, was retired because the metal was so worn and banged up that it was an embarrassment. The crystal, though, looked like it was brand new.

Anyway, if I didn't have a six month old Treo and a year and a half to go with Verizon, I'd be down at the Apple Store buying a new iPhone (after the crowds died down).

You are so right!! My calls have been so intense since I got my iPhone. It totally stepped up my dialing and talking to a whole new level.

I've got an idea...let's take my new phone, and compare it to your new iPhone...

Mine doesn't have touch screen, the web browser is rudimentary, the gps navigation is on a tiny little screen and isn't nearly as comprehensive as the one on the iPhone. The screen isn't super-hi-res, and it doesn't even have a music player installed.


But then again, yours won't survive a 5 foot drop onto concrete. And it isn't waterproof either.

Okay, everyone has to admit, that last post is off the f*cking hook.

You know, George, that's a good way to look at it. A decent phone will cost you $100, at least. A decent PDA will cost you $300. A small mp3 player will cost at least $150. One that plays video widescreen? At least $100 more. That's at least $600 right there.

All of it together in a very elegant package? That's worth it. The iPhone is a deal. Like most Apple products, when you actually compare it to a comparable piece of equipment, it prices out very reasonably.

Lasts all day with no issues. Keep in mind that I'm playing with it ALOT!
