Default Joining the DL

so, i think karma kicked my arse for accusing Kid A of having too much free time on his hands.

monday evening, 730ish. lifting a 50-60 lb ceramic pot with plant in it. 1st one? just fine. all the way to the back of the house. 2nd one? oh sh!t. hmm. I'll hobble the the couch now and go face down. wait- too soft. i'm headed for the floor!

2 hours later, i'm face down on a gurney in the ER and on my way to an MRI (1st one ever- the giant white donut is scary!)

2.5 hours: back in the ER room, still face down. ER MRI reader says that i've got a bulged disc on something previouslyn herniated (L4,L5). what? I've previously herniated something? now way! get outta here!

great. so I'm now DL for 6 weeks. so much for the plans of having one of the best summer's ever swimming masters. the meet aug 2-3 has now been shot in the foot. cr@p.

update; timeline: yesterday:
back-specific doc says 4-6 weeks. I now am in PT. fock!

here's the worst part for the recreational drug-use types: soma+vicodin=nothing for me. that and I've never taken the shyte before!!!!

ugh.

man that sucks, sorry to hear it. I was out for 8 weeks last summer with a fractured vertebra and it sucked, but getting back on the bike (or in the pool in your case) after that felt fantastic. Heal up fast!

See - all others be forewarned. don't F with the kid!

Seriously just playing bubb!!!! - very sorry to hear about downtime. A bunch of us know what serving time on DL is like and can surely empathize. Appears surgery is not in plans so i guess some good news. As others advised me take it easy as you can.

Healing vibes to u and when u r back i hope we can to hook up for ride.

btw- bright side is now you have more time for STR posts

Dayum dood! Healing vibes!

If the doc won't perscribe something that will help the pain, see a pain management doc. They will hook you up. PM me if you need the address of a good one that I know of. If you need a couple of pills of the good stuff, let me know and I'll hook you up

nope- not going to go see those leeches this time. they did nothing but milk my bank account for little benefit. that and hanging a 10lb lead ball off my forehead sucked.

DO NOT fall into the Hype that Dr. Edlund spews- it'll just mean more $ than you want to part with.

quite. but they call it "traction". what it's supposed to do is correct your neck vertibrae back to proper and to avoid the potential of bone spurs that make you all hunch backed as an old man (like OMR)
