my old fossil @ home (thats a home computer) finally gave up the booty after many sweet years of great use!! (not going into detail but yeah ). I have to replace it soon with something semi cheap so I ask the assistance of all the cool geeks with got on STR!! whats a nice set up? whats cheap? whats good? where? who? u know!! just trow me something!! If all you'll be doing with that new computer is posting on STR, I'd say that system is overkill. j/k Are you sure you can't bring your old computer back from the dead?

If you aren't going to be playing video games or doing music stuff, you don't need great sound/video cards, or a big monitor. From the looks of your build, though, it appears you want something for gaming? If not, definitely save on all the extra's. If you have a monitor and stuff that still works, just find a cheap box. Or PM Justin. Maybe he'll sell you his.

edit: maybe keep that processor and down a bit on the sound and vid card. you can probably get a cheaper keyboard/mouse combo as well

well I have gone trough 2 ATi vid cards!! a floppy and a new loaner vid card that burned out on our last attemp to revive this mofo!! my friend tells me that the CPU maybe the responsible monkey!! so In my thinking if I have to replace the cpu than just replace the whole chipset and have something semi up to date so I dont have to upgrade any time soon!! and I want some video power so for that I may need to hit the PCi/express joint!! my old MoBO dont have that type of slot so cant use the old one if I'm burning vid cards than maybe the Mother board has somehting to do with it as well!!

I will be doing some gaming!! thats why I'm hurting right nOW!! I havent had any CS in weeks now!! life sucks!!

as long as you have a solid CPU then pretty much yah, all you need after is a decent amount of RAM, a good vid card, and a Mobo that can run that vid card

edit: if you're into building it yourself, check out newegg.com for parts and what not...oh and make sure you have some decent cooling since a dead CPU is no good

All kidding aside, if you're looking to play some cutting edge games, you don't want to skimp on the video card. The fastest CPU in the world won't compensate for klunky video.

it will run on XP...but it will make vista so smooth lol<
