Default Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach?

Am told we may be hitting this place after a ride this wknd.

Beachwood BBQ: Where the Fork Meets the Pork

Never been there before and not too familiar with immediate area. For the folks that live up towards LB and Seal beach. Q's as such
 • Any good?
 • Safe to park with bikes "locked" in truck bed
Thanks

i'd say it is safe to park with bikes locked up. i've never been in the place, but frequent establishments near it. looks to be somewhat decently priced.

Gabriel at Beechwood knows his stuff. You can COUNT on him having nothing but great taps of beer and fine wines as well. I go there about 1x/week. It's a dry rub/smoked kind of BBQ, so if you're used to the sloppy wet sauces, you may be in for a surprise. He does have the sauces on the side. The brisket is great as are the sausages. Gabriel not only knows his food/beer/wine, but he loves to talk with his customers. Mention Kevin or the Long Beach Hopheads and you'll prob have a nice chat with him. Glad to see he got the website up finally. Small place, but well worth it. PM me if you go.....I'll walk up to have a pint with ya!

i've always been a fan of Chris & Pitts baby back ribs. there are a few locations around the so. cal area. if you havent been there before i'll shed a little light....its an old school steakhouse type atmosphere, burly waitress' and old plush vinyl booths. naples rib co. in naples (near belmont shore) is a 5 minute drive from beachwood bbq in seal beach and the ribs there are great in my opinion as well! i really should check out beachwood sometime soon! and i cant wait for the rib report, post lots of pix!

I here you. Besides real men fly dry rub. No sauce needed. My wife however may argue otherwise

sorry......forgot to answer that one. Parking on Main St can be a problem. If you get a spot, your bike should be safe. If you need to park in a public lot or even a street, it SHOULD be safe, but I'd recommend bringing it with you and locking it to one of the bike "lock thingies" on Main St. You should be able to lock it somewhere that you can monitor while eating. Crime is not really high, but ya never know with some of the young punks!

I walked by Beachwood the other day. Looks pretty good!

As far as other places in the area:
-Walt's Warf on Main Street and The Fish Company near Seal Beach Blvd/Katella. Not exactly after a ride type places, but killer, killer fish. There is also Jimmy's near PCH/2nd.
-Sushi - Koi on PCH in Seal Beach. Many people swear they will go nowhere else. Closed between lunch and dinner.
-Ruby's - at the end of the SB pier. Ruby's is what it is. Casual.
-River's End Cafe - At the end of the San Gabriel river trail. North end of the beach. Casual.
-The Abbey on Main St. Made famous by Mark McGuire. Brick oven pizza. Beer.

Harbor House Cafe on PCH in Sunset Beach - Open 24 hours. Covered patio. Casual is no problem. Great food and service.

OK.....just got back from Beechwood. Had a couple pints of the Hop Rod Rye from Bear Republic Brewery - Microbrewery, Restaurant and Catering in Downtown Healdsburg Ca. and some fried pickles. That damn Vanessa got me hooked on those pickels....yumm. Nice local place with a relaxed atmosphere, good people, and good food. If any STR folk head down there or anywhere in Seal Beach.........PM me......I'll meet you there. I already am planning on heading down next Thursday with some fellow teachers after we close out the school year!! . I'd be up for a Friday ride followed by some BBQ.........anyone?

be warned.......legs not the same since the Traverse

once you meet Vanessa you'll understand. She claims to have a "I hate Vanessa" fan club......but she's really nice......just don't tell her I said so or Gabe my revoke my status in the club!

I warned Gabe about the STR gang........so enjoy with moderation........or not.......hell.......just eat, drink and ride.....................I can stumble home if needed

Go Gabe!

Per request here goes first ever RR: Rib Report (possibly).

Packed up the truck with bikes and trailer for day at the beach with family. Hit HB path for casual ride and then chilled at the beach a bit. Then on to Beachwood BBQ in Seal beach. Rocked the combo (baby back ribs and pulled pork with cole slaw and blue cheese grits as side). Wife went fo Short ribs with hush puppies and creamed corn. A decent choice of beers. Selected a Belgian Wheat beer (White Rascal?). Think i like Hefe's a bit more but were cold and refreshing so no complaints! Place is small, people r cool. nice vibe. Actually was not to familar with Seal beach...town looks like a great place to hang/live.

Thanks to the guys (particulary Xhuskr) who provided feeback and sorry for not taggin you but was a bit hectic with my son in tow. (next time beers on me!)

Kid---- Thanks for the "rib report." Next time you may want to include your opinion of..... THE RIBS THEMSELVES! Good? Not so good? Crowded? A number from 1 to 10.

C'mon Man. Your rib report left us hanging like the series finale of The Soprano's.

All I ask is this.... Does the restaurant get a thumbs up?

P.S.- After I posted, I noticed you uploaded photos. I presume your meal was "DELICIOUS." Thanks!

didn't i say it all with the last pic? (delicious) holy sh!t no rib pic...i guess i am a dumba$$, must have been so hungry forget to take pic (trust me they thought i was an idiot for all the other pics i already had taken). Anyway, ribs and pork were good stuff. As Xhuskr suggests a dry rub place so no slop. If that what u like (my favorite) its a decent place to hit. (hit, Soprano's get it )
