Default Vacation suggestions needed?

Okay, here's the dealio. I won some airline tickets in a company raffle last year. And now, I need to use them by May 5th 2007. I can go anywhere contiguous 48 states, Carribean, Mexico, Bahamas, Bermuda and Carribean. Nice problem to have I know, I know.

Anyhow, right now me and my special lady friend are looking at Mexico. But would like some suggestions on where to go for 4-5 days. On the cheaper side of things would be nice. But really looking to relax someplace pretty, eat a lot of good food, and maybe do some hiking. No biking this trip. And less touristy is probably better too.

I hear Cozumel is nice, or something in Quintana Roo.

Any suggestions would be awesome. I don't really travel internationally, but hey, even something nice in the states in the month of April would be good too.

Thanks,
Carl

The Yucatan Penninsula is beautiful. You might want to look into Tulum and Playa Del Carmen. Not far from Cancun but a little more rustic, less touristy and quite beautiful. Incredible Mayan ruins as well. Do you guys scuba dive? Cozemel has a beautiful reef. If not you can see quite a bit just snorkeling.
Bon Voyage

could not have said it better myself. The wife and I LOVE the Yucatan. The farther south you go the better it gets.

Another thumbs up for Cozumel, and I would recommend Grand Cayman too. Swim with the stingrays.
For the Pacific side, there is a place called Pepe's in Manzanillo that has cliffside bungalows and a private beach in a gated community.
Most of the photos I have found online don't do justice to what I have seen on video.

Haha, nice try Phat Tire. I'll keep the chick. Last time I was in Maui I saw a bunch of guys driving up Haleakala(sp?) for shuttle runs. I'd love to bike there too.

This is great stuff. Keep'em coming. Thanks.

Haleakula is beautiful and the crater is worth seeing at sunrise but last time I rode it many years ago it was all pavement. I think you get more for your money right now in Mexico.

Mazatlan is nice. Cozemel is too

Cabo San Lucas is a great party town but if you are looking to get away from that then don't bother.

Ya- never do the Maui crater bike ride. I did it. It's 99.9% downhill old foagie beachcruizing. Good for a date for you though! hahaha. If you want to ever see the crater go at sunrise and just hike around there and come down via car/bus. You'll thank me later! Hang loose brah!
