I've lived back there. There are some good trails just outside the city (Gambrill SP, Gunpowder Falls). It snows during the winter but usually doesn't stick for long. Summer is hot and humid.

As far as the city goes, the Inner Harbor area is nice but the rest of downtown is one of the rougher cities in the US. There are nice suburbs all around the city though.

I once got lost in downtown Baltimore after an O's game. One of the scariest experiences of my life.

I always thought the surrounding areas in Maryland were nice. I lived in Blue Ridge Summit, PA (on the PA/MD border) for a couple of years in the late 90's. My rent for an old studio apartment was $225 a month. Ah, the good old days.

Yikes, baltimore, I used to drive down to Hopkins a lot with my previous job, and speant some time checking out Baltimore too, not the best city in the world. If you're thinking about moving east, check out philly. I used to ride 4-5 days a week out there and they are just now starting a MTB group that is really flourishing. There's also very well run race series out there with races in NJ, PA, DE and MD, all within a couple hours.

Hey Matt... ever seen 'the Wire' on HBO? rough

I have some cousins and friends that live in Rockville, and it's nice.

Yeah, I was gonna mention "The Wire." Great show. Not a city I'd want to go to.

That's why they call it Bodymorge, Murderland.

So, I guess if you want an STD, some heroine, or looking to get robbed, Baltimore would be a good palce to check out.

Owings Mills is out of the city in a pretty good area. East Coast is a lot different than out here though. I've spent about six years living back there and can't wait to get back each time.
