Default beer.....

so what kind of beer do you guys usually drink? I'm going through an abbey ale phase as its hard to not turn down a smooth drinking ale that packs a punch.

Current favs so far are Trappist Rochefort 8 and Gulden Draak ales. Chimay blue wasn't bad, same with Duvel and the Delirium Tremens is pretty kick ass. I'm currently going through a roster of St. Bernardus abbey's so we'll see how those are, but the Pater 6 is pretty damn good.

I wouldn't mind trying out some new stuff, my every day choice is probably Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. I'm not man enough to drink the hoppy Stone stuff too much, but their IPA is good as well.

Default Stone

I would have to vote for Stone Ruination which by the way will be released in 12oz bottles in May.
I went to a Stone tasting at Newport Brewery last Tuesday and the guy in front of me was wearing a shirt that said
"You can't drink all day unless you start in the morning."

Newcastle is my beer of choice.

I've tried the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and it was ok. I prefer a dark ale that's smooth and not bitter.

Nice topic Nam. I do enjoy a nice n' hoppy Rogue Hazlenut Brown from time to time. I am also fond of Smithwicks (similar to Newwy, but more tasty in my opinion) and as far as lagers go, New Belgiums "Skinny Dip" is towards the top of my list.

Newcastle is just about my favorite "comfort" beer.

Fat Tire of course. Murphy's Irish Stout or Guinness are also good one I want something really rich.

I like Sapporo if I'm eating Korean, or Japanese BBQ.

Best beer of late is anything from the Backstreet Brewery. $3 pints, they make a great brown ale, and a dark 9% alcohol beer that's good too.

Not a Sierra Nevada fan, just too bitter for me these days.

Where do you start?! The old favorites are newcastle of course, but petes wicked, samuel adams black lager, ( which they just started selling in the six pac ), and guinness are all great. But the darker the better. The really great ones are samuel smith oatmeal stout, guinness stout, boones valley stout and BJ'S pizza has a awesome stout called tatonka with a 9.3 alcohol content.

that is some tastey stuff!

i also have had samuel smiths oatmeal stout which is a meal in itself, yum! back in the day when keg partys were the norm we had a keg of samuel adams cherry wheat and it was so good out of the keg. im not one for fruit flavored beers really, but that stuff was incredible. i've had it out of the bottle and it just wasnt the same...

Ya drink too much, and you will end up with a FAT tire!!

Ok... now that beer is the subject, maybe you guys can help ID a beer I tried once that a friend bought me.

It was this really good lemon beer(Maybe a malt liquor?) that I *think* was called One Eyed Jack or something to that effect and I beleive it had a Bee on the label and it was yellow.

this is all I remember of the beer. I tried to find it at the store and places like BevMo with no luck....

Any ideas??

Not sure. But I bet you the guys at "High Times" in Costa Mesa either have it or know of it.

The walk-in beer fridge there rocks.

too many good to call out one so my contribution to the post as such:

Genesee Cream Ale...the worst beer ever. Went to college upstate NY and you do not want to drink this sh!t.

Find myself mostly drinking Lemon Heights Hefe these days (Tustin brewery)
