    Default Pasadena Peeps

Going to be heading up to watch the UCLA game this weekend and was looking for some suggestions on a cool bar or hangout near the stadium to catch some of the early games before we head to tailgate. Any and all suggestions/recommendations are appreciated.

    Thanks yo!

Sports Bar, somewhere to knock back some good quality beers, no yellow fizz, while catching the early games.

    FULL SELECTION OF CRAFTSMAN STYLE
    BEERS & WINES!

Our beer selection is always changing to keep bringing you new and interesting brews, so stop in often!
    Domestic Craftbrews................................

Alleycat Amber - Lost Coast, Eureka CA
A great medium-bodied amber, this beer hits the palate with toasty malt and just a hint of caramel if you really look for it, followed by a clean finish with just the right amount of hops for a California amber.

    12oz bottle
    5.5% ABV $4
Downtown Brown - Lost Coast, Eureka CA
Rich and malty with touches of toffee and caramel, this brown isn’t too dark or too light – the dry finish balances out the sweetness that dominates some dark beers. It’s also very light on the hops, and thus a great choice for people who don’t like bitter beer.

    22oz bottle
    5.0% ABV $7
Old Rasputin Imprerial Russian Stout - North Coast, Fort Bragg CA
An exemplary specimen of it’s genre, this beer starts big and doesn’t taper off until long after it leaves your tongue. Roasted malt and coffee flavors come to the fore, with just the right amount of bittering to keep it from finishing sweet. An all around excellent stout.

    12oz bottle
    9.0% ABV $5
Arrogant Bastard Ale - Stone, Escondido CA
As the bottle will tell you in no-so-subtle terms, you probably aren't good enough to drink this beer. If you should feel adventurous, however, expect copius amounts of a secret strain of hops that lends this ale a pungent but complex and beguiling flavor that seems to take forever to resolve.

    22oz bottle
    7.2% ABV $7
Allagash White - Allagash, Portland Maine
A superb example of an American-crafted, Belgian-style white beer, this light-drinking number will please just about any palate with its mild coriander and citrus notes. A smooth mouth feel and very clean finish make this a perfect summer beer. If you’re looking for a top-tier, handcrafted beer with a more delicate flavor, this is the brew for you.

    750ml bottle
    5.2% ABV $10
    Imported Selections................................

Affligem - Affligem Brouwerij, Flanders Belgium
A perfect first Belgian for the uninitiated or a great way to cool off on a hot day, this beer is perhaps less sweet than one might expect from this style. Toasted malt, yeast, and a hint of cloves make up the primary flavors in this exceptionally smooth ale. As the head dissipates and the beer warms it takes on a dryer flavor, adding to it’s already refreshing character.

    12oz bottle
    6.7% ABV $4
Duvel - Brouwerij Duvel Moortgat NV, Belgium
The original Belgian Strong Pale Ale, Duvel is famous the world around for its craggy, lacy, luxuriant head and perfectly balanced flavor. Light and drinkable but very complex, Duvel starts out with a solid malt backbone decorated with pear and citrus notes. Its high alcohol content is masked by the slightest sourness in the dry and somewhat bitter finish.

    330 ml bottle
    8.5% ABV $6
    Delirium Tremens - Brouwerij Huyghe
A house favorite, this medium-bodied, golden ale has been ‘elected’ best beer in the world more than once. Triple fermentation with re-fermentation in the bottle give this brew incredible complexity, with layers of citrus, cherry, yeast and light spice. That said, it’s very drinkable for such a deep and contemplatable offering.

    330ml bottle
    8.5% ABV $6.50
Chimay Premičre - Bieres de Chimay, Belgium
The most famous trappist beer in the world, Chimay is superbly drinkable with a sweet malt complemented by flavors of fruit and spice. This brew opens up a lot as it warms, so sip it slowly. A great introduction to Belgian beers for people who normally drink ambers.

    330 ml bottle
    7.0% ABV $6.50
    Angel City Draught Beers...............................$4

The Smokehouse is proud to be the ONLY place to get the entire line of ANGEL CITY beers on tap! Visit their website for more info.
Pilz - A Crisp Golden Lager, 4.7% ABV
The lightest offering in the lineup, this Pilsner is a perfect step up for all you 'Bud' drinkers out there. Tracing its roots to prestigious Czech and German Lagers, this crisp and refreshing beer is just a little tart with a perfectly balanced hop profile.

Vitzen - German Style Wheat Beer, 4.5% ABV
This unfiltered beer features authentic German yeast, giving it the delicate spicy-sweetness of a real Bavarian Witbier. Unlike American-style Heff's, this brew features notes of banana and bubble gum.

Ale - A Malty Amber Ale, 5.0% ABV
Angel City's superbly drinkable ale has everything you'd want out of a medium-bodied Amber - a plenty of malt with just a hint of caramel, enough Gelding hops to balance the beer but not make it overly bitter, and an intriguing strawberry-like sweetness.

Dunkel - Rich Dark Lager, 5.7% ABV
This rare variety of beers is characterised by a LOT of malt (six in this case!), most of it toasted, and manifests itself as a medium-bodied but completely dark-colored brew yielding flavors of chocolate, coffee, and toasted bread over a surprisingly rich, almost wine-like body.

IPA - A Rich Hoppy Ale, 6.8% ABV
Another staff favorite - Angel City really nailed this one. Crisp floral hops dominate this satisfying red brew's robust flavor without wearing out your taste-buds.

Abbey - Belgian Strong Ale, 8% ABV
This award-winning, high-gravity ale is big on everything: authentic Belgian malts and yeast as well as 'Candi' or brewing sugar. The end result is a sweet caramel-like flavor, big body, and surprisingly clean finish.

    Other Selections................................

Newcastle - Newcastle Brewing Co., UK

    14oz Draught
    4.7% ABV $5
Firestone Pale Ale - Firestone Walker Fine Ales, CA

    14oz Draught
    4.6% ABV $5
Pabst Blue Ribbon - Miller Brewing Company, USA

    12oz Bottle
    5% ABV $2.50
Amstel Light- Brouwerij Amstel BV, Netherlands

    12oz Bottle
    3.5% ABV $4
Bohemia - Cerveceria Cuauhtemoc Moctezuma, Mexico

    12oz Bottle
    5.3% ABV $4
    Heineken - Bouwerijen BV, Holland

    12oz Bottle
    5% ABV $4
Apricot Weizen - Pyramid Breweries, Portland OR

    12oz Bottle
    5.1% ABV $5

The Yardhouse on Colorado Blvd. at Paseo Colorado is always a good choice.

As Dino mentioned, Barney's Beanery is a lot of fun.

Lucky Baldwins on Raymond just below Colorado Blvd.

    Fred's Mexican Cafe on Colorado.

Hooters Pasadena has been history for a while now.

Take a shuttle or taxi to the Bowl after throwing back a few. You'll be glad you did.

35'er for the dive bar experience. Barney's a little better but not by much. Barney's does have food. Lucky Baldwin's Pub also works but no hard liquor there. Just beer. All three of these are in old town and within a mile of the Rose Bowl.

The Yard House, for the beer variety and hanging out with all the snobby people of Pasadena. This is @ The Paseo, 1/4 mile east of old town.

Would it be hard to find a shuttle/taxi from the bowl?

    Thanks yo!

Just make friends with the folks in the motor homes. They always have a few games showing on the many televisions they bring along.
