Oh man, I love watching dudes like that crash their bikes. Morons. There were four guys on their crotch rockets popping wheelies down Baseline in front of me yesterday as I drove my family in the mini-van and I kept praying for a crash. Guys like that deserve it.

Sorry, I have no sympathy for people who are too stupid to figure it out on their own and too hardheaded to listen to others who know better. Popping wheelies isn't the part that bothered me. It's that they were doing it on Baseline Road, in traffic, at 2pm in the afternoon. So, yeah, for that, I'm pretty comfortable thinking it's appropriate they should suffer pretty harshly. Those kind of people never learn any other way. You think if I pulled along side and told they were driving unsafely that they'd listen? However, I bet if they peeled back their skin to the muscle, broke some major bones and had scars to remember their idiocy they might make some lifestyle changes. In a perfect world they would have lost control of their bikes, skidded completely off the road and wrapped themselves around a tree or telephone pole. Something tells me that they'd ride a lot more safely in the future, if at all. Nobody would have to tell them. They'd have it all figured out. I feel good about that. Well, like I said. Anyone that drives unsafely should get what they deserve. In a perfect world, said SUV driver would roll his car off the embankment and suffer horribly. It pisses me off that people treat these gigantic three-ton metal monsters like toys. Cars and motorcycles are not toys. I used to drive like an as*hole too. I have since matured, fortunately. But, now, it's not me I worry about. It's the tools that ride my ass in the carpool lane when I'm already going 85mph. (It's not the f&%$ing autobahn lane, people, it's the carpool lane). It's the numbskull in the sportscar that's racing the idiot in the Mugen-powered import on the freeway going in out of traffic as if we were orange cones. People like that are dangerous to all of us. It's not fun and it's not amusing. It's the reason medical and insurance costs are so high. As a taxpayer and a father, I wish everybody like that would do us all a favor and throw a belt over the shower rod and swing. At least that way they'd only be hurting themselves.

Were you referring to our ride home last week? It's true I was doing 80 and had a guy hugging my rear end.
I too get a little upset when I see these guys endangering themselves and others. I've stopped a few times to render aid after some horrific crashes and the memories never fade much.

So, do I really want people to be horribly maimed in accidents? No. But, I do think that's what it takes for some people to learn.

Hey, I'm just an English teacher. As I frequently tell my students... If I'm talking about how to write, or how to read, or how to analyze a poem, or literary analysis, or grammar... then I'm an expert and you should take my word for it. But, if I'm talking about practically anything else then I'm just some guy who's probably full of it. Keep that in mind.
