Well we have finally arrived in NC!
We had some vehicular problems right off the bat--in the 909, no less! But major props to Rob's shop (Harbor Auto in Costa Mesa) as they made good on their warranty for the clutch replacement and fixed ye’old Xterra up quick-like and at no charge and they reimbursed us for the towing we had to get! Very honorable. I’d venture to call them the best Japanese car shop in the OC! No question I'd recommend them to family or go back to them if we still lived there. Anywho, we got here Sunday morning. It was a loooooooong drive of 2600 miles WITH a stinking trailer. Haven’t hit any trails yet...sh!t, we don't even have the microwave or fridge yet! Luckily, a bottle of caramel exploded in the uhaul and spilled that crap all over my bike and fork! Once I clean her up I’ll be hitting some dirt. Hopefully I don't have to service my fork again.... Still in unpack-mode though for now…Once again I gotta give a special thanks to Gonz, “The Don”, STR, and the STR family. No exaggeration--you guys and gals have truly been like a family during our time in Cali. Can’t say that anywhere I have lived--or will ever live--will rival SoCal. We’re missing SoCal, but the house is nice and things certainly will be cheaper out here. But how easily I forgot what humidity feels like…UGH! Glad we have AC now! ![]() I’ll be checking in often as SoCal and STR are the source of MTB goodness, as far as I’m concerned…and I’ll want to order a shirt when you slackers finally get your buttz in gear on that! ![]() And I’ll post a pic or two of the sweet—I hope —NC stylee singletrack. At the very least, the mountains in the western part of the state were freakin’ killer to drive through!![]() If you ever find yourself in the Raleigh-Durham area, don’t hesitate to contact ECOdork a.k.a. Lance lancefontaine@tulanealumni.net It truly has been an honor STR! ![]() |

Thanks for the update Lance! Not sure if you saw our "tribute to you" thread but lots of us commented on it.
Glad to hear the only thing that exploded on the way out was that caramel! Definitely keep us posted and I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say post some pix of some trails once you get all settled in. |
