Default CB/Ham radio?

Yes they have sorta phased out but does any one know what stores if any carry antennas?
I know I can get one on-line but was wondering if there were any retail stores that may carry them.

I dug my old Cobra out of the garage and am putting back in the truck but I seemed to have misplaced my antenna and mount for it.

If you are familiar with the manufactures and know where I could get one, these are what I am looking for ..

You can either stop at any truck stop to find the antenna and mounts. If you are anywhere near Anaheim, there is HRO (ham radio outlet) on Euclid. It's right between La Palma and Crescent.

The ham Radio outlet store is good.

That is where I got my Yaesu vx-6r hand held radio .
It was cool but I didn't have many friends that got into them so i sold it. I took it with me to Baja for training.

It was 5 watts I think it might go from my house to Kens.

Dang Freddie! It took me a while to see what you were saying. It's been a while since I've used morse. Even on the Ham bands, hardly anyone uses that unless you're working DX. The only time I really get to hear codes is when the repeaters are sending the signs.

Why u callin' CQ? I think we're all here!

Is not the original meaning of 73's = Hugs and Kisses?

Yes, sort of...

From www.ac6v.com

The National Telegraphic Review and Operators' Guide, first published in April 1857... ...At that time, 73 meant "My love to you".

In 1859, the Western Union Company set up the standard "92 Code." A list of numerals from one to 92 was compiled. Here's a partial list:

44 Answer promptly by wire
73 Best regards
88 Love and kisses
91 Superintendent's signal

So, 73's and 88's to all!

^Is that new? When I got my No Code Technician Class in 1998, you needed Morse Code to get a General Class License.

I had a Henry Radio 2KV full legal limit amp that wound up getting it's band-pass bypassed and used on 11m for a few minutes. we took out the Orange PD's ability to use UHF, so we shut it down.

My home rig was a 150 watt tube amp and a Sigma 5/8 on a 50ft tower near the 22 & 55. I thought I was big $hit then. I was certainly louder than all the mobiles running around with 500-600 watts. And, I never cut the mod limiters in my radios, so I wasn't a "bleed & splatter" station. I had super clean audio you could understand through the hetrodyne if someone keyed over me. So, we'd turn our squelch up and just keep talking....

When I went legit, I started talking on nets and making friends all over the state on a 5w HH. I thought I was king with a 50w 2meter mobile. FM Baby!! My dream-rig is a Yaesu 857D.

My current set up is a Yaesu FT8800 mobile and a VX7r as a HT. I also have a Icom ICW32A, but that's been sitting in my house. I mainly sit on the 2m/440 bands.
