Default Bush to open national parks to mountain bikes

Oct 14th, 2008 | -- The Bush administration is taking steps to make it easier for mountain bikers to gain access to national parks and other public lands before the president — an avid cyclist himself — leaves office.
The National Park Service confirmed Tuesday that it is preparing a rule to allow park managers in some cases to decide which trails to open to mountain bikers.
Once it's finalized, the rule would take this authority away from federal regulators in Washington, who sometimes take years to decide whether to allow bicycles on individual trails.
A park service spokesman said the rule would be proposed no later than Nov. 15 in order for it to be finalized before Bush leaves office.

That's because Dubya rides mtb's. Selfish motivation but I like it, none the less. Now if Palin rode, I'd like to see that shot.

He only did it because like they said he rides all the time. I hate to say this but this guy spends why too much time riding at his crawford Texas ranch than actually working its pretty evident. I can just see it "hey Mr. President we need to go over our budget", George "Ahhh man f' it I am going to do a line of coke then go for a ride on my ranch in crawford yee haw man!"

Oh, don't forget that he authorized the extension of daylight savings by an extra few weeks.

So...by my count, that makes 2 good things.

hot dam!!

just think if all the sierra's were legal to ride, mucho mucho epic trails with big vertical descents. for grand canyon type, just hit up copper canyon in mexico, supposed to have like 10,000 miles of indian trails, all legal, many are knarly and very technical, again with large descents.

if the government ever shutdown, i'll be riding mt whitney singletrack!
