I don't know what the country is thinking when our choice is narrowed down to McCain or Obama.

I dont think many of us would like to argue with Palin on live TV. I think we would get owned. But Biden is no idiot. He's had time to get lots of amo together for this debate. He should go on the offensive, rattle her cage a little bit and hope she says something stupid.

Dude, are you serious? It seems every time she opens her mouth she sticks a foot into it, scripted or not. Couric's interviews are totally painful to watch. I feel bad that she can't seem to make a point - ever. Not that Biden is a ringer either.

Yea Biden needs to get in her face, like Couric did, and let her bury herself. Otherwise she is going to be tough as the aggressor and will pull no punches when she goes after the Dems.

I don't think she'll make that big a fool of herself - 1, because she talks around and never answers the question she has been asked, and 2, because the format of the debate is not one where Biden and probably the moderator as well will be able to hammer her to clarify her answers or even answer the question itself. If they could do that, then she's in trouble....

A lot of people will be able to see that she's not saying anything useful, but to Joe Redneck in Arkansas (if he even has a TV) her answers will make perfect sense.

I think Biden is pretty smart. The only way he will look bad is if he tries too hard to make her look bad, so it looks like he's beating up on soccer mom.

Seriously? I'm not saying biden is going to chew her up but...

BIDEN
A constitutional scholar and adjunct professor of law at Widener Law School, Senator Biden is one of the Senate's leading voices on crime and drug policy. U.S. News & World Report described Senator Biden as "the Democrats' chief anti-crime specialist on Capitol Hill." He served as the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee for 16 years, including an extended term as Chairman from 1987-95. Today, Senator Biden is the Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Drugs, where he continues to lead the debate on criminal justice and public safety issues.

As the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Biden has earned a reputation for working on a bipartisan basis with top Republican colleagues. Senator Richard Lugar, who is currently the top Republican on the committee has said: "Senator Biden has a very strong commitment to a bipartisan foreign policy and serves as a good example for everyone in Congress. He has a very broad, comprehensive view of the world. He's a good listener, but he's also a strong and effective advocate of his
position."

What experience does Palin have, in any way to hold her ground against Biden?

He wont have to rattle her cage.. she'll look like an idiot on her own

Are you trying to say that all you need is experience to win a debate? I would disagree on with you right there. I think what matters is composure, the ability to articulate your point (right or wrong), and salesmanship. Palin is where she is right now because she has these qualities. She will do a great job attacking Obama and Biden. That's what she good at doing and that's what McCain needs her to do. If she can avoid explaining herself or anything else complicated she will do fine.

With McCain going down in the polls it would be best for Biden to just attack McCain and not say anything too stupid to piss off the undecided voters.

Palin should do well for the base and who knows how she will do on the undecided voters.

IMO it will be difficult for Palin to top her painful to watch interviews where she can't answer the simplest questions. Makes for great SNL content BTW.
She might know the answers to some of the interview questions but I think she is too nervous to put together a coherent answer! HA!!

Andrew Halcro has debated Palin over a dozen times and wrote this article about the experience. Quite an eye opener.

Here's a taste:

"Andrew, I watch you at these debates with no notes, no papers, and yet when asked questions, you spout off facts, figures, and policies, and I'm amazed. But then I look out into the audience and I ask myself, 'Does any of this really matter?' " Palin said.

EXACTLY

No Im not. What I am trying to say is that if the only thing that you have done in your political career is mayor of a one horse town and govenor of a state with 600000 people. She would not be someone who I would trust to even hold a cabinet postion.

And what point exactly will she be articulating tonight? .
You have seen the interview with Couric right?

She came off looking like a horses ass, she has no agenda of her own and Im sure right now McCains people are coaching her to make sure she doesn't completely put her foot in her mouth

Palin doesn't know jack. She's the woman version of G. W. Bush, only even less informed and less experienced. Her recent interviews even have conservatives shaking their heads. The only thing she's proven so far in this campaign is that she can read a speech decently well. I hope this debate shows exactly how ill-prepared she is to be president. Unbelievable that McCain picked her.
