Default Best canned beer available in SD?

Upcoming sailing trip requires beer, but bottles are not allowed. If this were just a one-day event, I'd grab some Corona or Tecate in cans (because I can provision those from my local).

But this is a longer trip, and we'll need to keep the crew happy. Neither of those will do it for long, so I'm looking to upgrade. We had some lovely cans from Maui Brewing Co. at this year's Stone festival (the coconut porter, especially), but they're not available 'round here.

Oh, and they should be 12'ers, not the widget-powered pub cans (though, now that I think of it, Boddingtons and Guinness might be the right call...).

    Any suggestions?

ah contraire mo frare, you can get maui cans at the bevmo by grossmont center. They've had the coconut porter before and they currently have the blonde.

You've never heard of Oskar Blues?

Neither had I till the Pirate Ride. Stone is distributing it, and I understand they have it at BevMo too.

I highly recommend the Gordon Ale

Dale's Pale Ale is supposed to be really good and it comes in cans. Actually Stone distributes for them.

Another vote for Oskar Blues. I just cleared the BevMo in Mission Valley out of their Dale's the other day - but who knows they may have more in. They had some Old Chub too which is the Scotch Ale. They also had the 4-pacs of Gordon, which is more of an IPA and really good, but a little pricey. The Dale's Pale Ale is a favorite in my house and I am so glad they are available around here so my buddy in CO doesn't have to ship a few to me now and again to keep the jones at bay.

The Bottle Shop in Kensington on Adams also has been stocking the Oskar Blues and they told me they'd get all of them in including the Ten-Fidy if it's still available but I think it may be too late this year for that one.

Yet another Dale's Pale Ale recommendation. I also just picked up a sixer of canned 21st Ammendment Brew Free or Die IPA, which is a really, stupidly long name for a good, 7.0% alcohol IPA.

I'm going to put a vote in for Asahi Super Dry in the can. It's nothing like the stuff listed above but its cheap and good for drinking all day in the sun. I just picked up a 24 pack at the Japanese grocery store for $14.99.

    Ditto.

Gordon beer from Oskar Blues is THE BEST beer canned that I have found in my exhaustive research.

It's very hoppy. They also make an awesome Scottish ale called Old Chubb if you're not much of a hop head.

Chasing Tail Pale Ale from Squatters or anything from Oskar Blues. Both are usually available from BevMo.

I thought Dale's and Gordon from Oscar Blues was my little secret...

How'd it get out?? I had my first Dale's at the Spot Trailer at the Sea Otter.

Boddingtons is foul and not in the same category as anything from Oskar Blues or Maui Brewing.

Big Swell is really nice especially on a hot day. It's getting harder and harder to find in stock.

I 'm looking forward to the day when Stone starts canning Ruination!

+1 for Ruination in the can, that would be dangerous for my morning "breakfast beer" rides. But Boddy's = foul? No way mate, but maybe that's just my Brit S.O. talkin. Pulled in a pub in Portobello it's pretty darn good.

    Cheers.

Boddy's is indeed quite nice, but Tetley's in the pub-draft can gets the win. My limey in-laws have taught me well.
